Recovery from strokes and other debilitating issues will always be difficult, but they don’t have to take as much time as they normally do with conventional methods.

Rockstar client demonstrating a microregressive pushup, which In this scenario becomes necessary due to invisible (humeral adduction) intention forces. As fatigue creeps in or if a regular pushup is too difficult to perform appropriately, this is a nice alternative to appropriately challenge the complete range of motion.

FLEXIBILITY: Many people try to increase range of motion in some rather extreme ways without accounting for structural limitations. Passive increases in motion will improve flexibility, but it will come at the cost of stability (how we can progressively increase mobility). Our brains are constantly recalculating tension regulation every 10,000ths of a second, and if we keep stretching tissue, we detract from the methods that protect us from forces we can’t handle. Stretching or foam rolling our glutes, hamstrings, and calves to go deeper in a squat just means we lose the posterior chain muscle stiffness (resilence) that protects our lower extremity joints from trauma. Instead, if we increase our muscles’ active ability to flex our hips, knees, and ankles we can more safely transition from the eccentric (negative) to the concentric (positive) portion of a squat.
