Sometimes we just can't make ourselves feel better. That's being human, when life gets too big, or too hard. When we're in that place, it's ok to lean on a trusted friend, or ask for professional help.

Asking for help can feel lonely, and frightening. When we courageously reach out, we don't have to step into another day feeling utterly alone.

During times of stress, grief and trauma, it is easy to feel as if we've lost our voice. Sometimes it feels as if we no longer recognize ourselves. If you are struggling, even "just a little," please know you don't have to carry that burden alone. I would proudly walk with you.

As symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma continue to escalate within our communities, and mental health providers are needed in greater numbers, I am answering the call. My practice is expanding to full time, Wednesdays through Saturdays. If you need the hand of a trusted ally in therapy, please take mine.

Now more than ever the acts associated with conscious mourning should not be postponed, awaiting "memorial services to be planned." If you are grieving any loss at all, even the losses we may not yet have language to define, let yourself mourn. Mourning is the outward expression of grief. Mourn small and quietly, or ROAR, or both. Mourn, and let those who care share the burden.

“Like birth and death, grief and love can’t exist without each other.”

Recently I listened to a podcast featuring a scientist from Carnegie Mellon. He has studied the psychological responses to pandemic extensively. He reported that we tend to react more profoundly during the time frame marking 6 to 12 weeks from when the impact is initially experienced. For most of us in the US, that time is starting around now.
It's normal and even expected to feel more despondent, less connected, more numb, and certainly more grief, fear and vulnerability right now and in the coming weeks. Past trauma may be triggered now.
It's ok to be one of so many who are not "using this gift of time to...." It's ok to remove the word "should" from your language, especially if it results in unfavorable and unfair feelings of lack and incapacity.
It's ok to seek support and care. If I can be present for you, please reach out.
Blessings to you.

When all the pieces of life feel scattered, I empower my clients to find meaning and hope, restoring a sense of balance again. I am passionate about helping you to navigate your way through the transitions life hands us, and the changes that often result in a wide range of emotions that accompany these experiences.

I am honored to provide a psychologically safe and supportive environment for people who are facing grief and loss, illness, caregiver stress, loss of independence and purpose, and end of life concerns.

It is a privilege to walk alongside you.
