What an amazing 5 star review! We are so proud and honored to serve our community!
"I have had to deal with a lot of medical problems this year. This last one involved a trip to the hospital by ambulance, 5 days in ICU, 5 days in a regular room, and 10 days in rehab. The hospital had given me a list of suggested facilities. I knew there was one on West Eastman in Lakewood, but did not know the name. After some searching, we found Lakewood Post Acute and Rehabilitation. I had visited there about 13 years ago. When I arrived, I was so impressed with the new look. It had been remodeled and was very clean. I had a very nice room. Going from the hospital to rehab was an adjustment. It did not take me long to realize how kind and friendly all of the people who work there are. My first night there, dinner was waiting for me. The next day there was a long stream of staff members coming into my room to introduce themselves and each one took the time to get to know me, my likes, dislikes, and needs. During my 10 days there I found everyone to be as kind and friendly as on my first day there. When I called for help, they were very quick to respond. For years I have complained about pain in my left shoulder and arm. One of their medical staff told me she could give me a steroid shot in the shoulder, They needed x-rays first to be sure I qualify. I got the shot and for the first time in years I am gaining movement in my arm. As many times as I have been in the ER and hospital this year and warned everyone not to touch my arm, they talked about x-rays, but Lakewood Post Acute was the first ones to actually do it. Much to my surprise, the x-rays were done on the following day. Penny, the activities director, does a wonderful job planning activities. My favorite one was when they had a singer come who sang songs through the decades beginning in the 1940's. The food was very good there. You certainly are not going to go hungry there. The portions are very generous. They make sure patients shower three times a week. After 10 days in the hospital with no shower, it was a welcome change. I had OT and PT on a daily basis. All of the people who did therapy with me were wonderful. It was not easy, but I knew it was for my own good. It really helped my ger my strength back after being in bed for so long. Today I can say that I feel better than I have felt all year. It is good to be home, but I miss all of the employees, especially the CNAs who work so hard to meet the patient's needs at Lakewood Post Acute."
