Today, Uber and for HOPE International announced the launch of Hope Rides in Colorado at PorchLight. Hope Rides is a national partnership aimed at removing transportation barriers for survivors of interpersonal violence. Through this initiative, Uber is providing free rides to eighteen Family Justice Centers (FJCs) across eleven states for survivors to access critical services, including two FJCs in Colorado.
From our Executive Director, Candace Cooledge, "Access to safety and justice should never depend on whether you can get there. Today, hope rides!"
FJCs are a recognized best-practice model for supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other forms of abuse. By co-locating social services, legal aid, law enforcement, and additional support under one roof, these centers offer comprehensive, trauma-informed care that can be life-saving.
“Hope Rides is more than transportation—it’s a lifeline,” said Tony West, Chief Legal Officer at Uber. “By meeting survivors exactly where they are, it offers a compassionate bridge to safety, shelter, counseling, and legal support. It’s about empowering each person to take that first courageous step toward healing and hope.”
“Transportation should never be the barrier between a survivor and safety,” said Catherine Johnson, President and CEO of Alliance for HOPE International. “Hope Rides to Family Justice Centers ensure that survivors of trauma and abuse have access to lifesaving support, advocacy, and justice as they navigate their pathway to safety and healing.”
