For those who may have missed it. The Penrose Pulse included a nice little write up about our Heart Valve Disease Awareness Luncheon.

We were told by many how much they appreciate the gathering and Dr. Mehall had more than a few wanting to speak to him personally after his talk.

A very nice time was had by all and we wanted to send a special thanks to the Penrose catering staff. The luncheon was healthy and delicious. We really appreciate everyone who helped make this such a successful event.

Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day is February 22nd! https://www.valvediseaseday.org/

On Friday, February 21st, we will be celebrating with many survivors and family members. This special event will take place in the Cancer Center Conference Rooms at Penrose Hospital from 11:30am to 1:00pm.

We are very excited to have Dr. John Mehall, Director of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Associates, as the speaker for this wonderful event.

If you are unable to join us, we will be live streaming Dr. Mehall's educational talk. We encourage you to join us this way as well!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I am alive another year! Today is the anniversary of my surgery... 11/4/16
Thanks to all of you and a few others that helped me two years ago!
Please tell everyone that I said hello! I hope to get down there soon and stop in.
I am attaching a few pics. I went motocross racing last weekend! 60 years old and two years after my surgery! I had not competed in eight years... As you can see from the big smile, I had a blast! First place!

On Sunday, August 25th, we were fortunate to meet this amazing group, The Sisterhood of Temple Beit Torah, and share with them the importance of women's heart health care.

Dr. Betty Kim and Sarah Norwood, NP of Penrose St. Francis Hospital, Colorado Springs, CO discussed many topics including, healthy eating/exercise habits and becoming aware of the signs of possible health issues regarding heart disease and stroke.

There was a lively question and answer session towards the end and many thank you's to Dr. Kim and Sarah from the attendee's were received.

Fact: Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. That’s approximately one woman every minute. Taking the time to educate oneself may be the most important thing you can do for yourself and your family.
