Debunking myths: “There are no respite options in my area”

Even if formal health care or respite care organizations are not available in your area, there are many other forms of respite care available. Family, friends and neighbors can help out. Even some faith-based groups or civic organizations have informal or volunteer-based respite programs.

Respite is a short break for caregivers. It is the opportunity for a caregiver to step away, knowing their loved one is well cared for, by bringing in substitute care. Finding respite is possible; it sometimes just takes a little creativity.

Find respite resources, including day programs, camps, direct care providers, and more on our Online Resource Finder: https://coloradorespitecoalition.org/resource-finder/providers/index

July is Disability Pride Month, when we recognize and honor the invaluable contributions of individuals with disabilities, people who enrich our society with their unique talents, wisdom, and perspectives.

Moreover, a salute to both paid and unpaid caregivers. These devoted souls provide unwavering support to those with care needs.

At Colorado Respite Coalition, we understand the call to care, offering resources, training, and support. We connect them to respite care, ensuring they too get moments of rejuvenation. From family respite vouchers to specialized educational support groups, we're here to aid those shouldering the noble task of caregiving.
