We are always looking for volunteers, professional patrollers, and hosts ready to combine adventure with service.

The process is to connect with a local patrol, create your NSP account, complete required education courses, and start making a difference. As a candidate, you’ll train for first aid in outdoor environments—preparing you to respond when it matters most.

Meet this year’s NAS Scholarship Recipients!

Nine NSP patrollers have been awarded scholarships to attend the National Avalanche School, thanks to the support of Mammut and North American Rescue Dogs (NARD). Notably, six of the nine recipients are women—reflecting NSP’s ongoing commitment to supporting women in patrol.

From avy dog handlers to future instructors, these recipients are committed to growing their avalanche expertise and strengthening safety in their patrol communities.

As more resorts and parks expand their summer offerings, NSP’s Bike Program ensures patrollers are ready. Through dedicated training and education, this program prepares bike patrollers and hosts to respond in lift-accessed bike parks, open space trails, and urban riding areas.
 
It’s more than just being present on the trail—it’s about having the skills, knowledge, and preparation to manage incidents and promote a safe riding environment.

As ski areas close for the season, we want to thank our 30,000+ members across the country for their service, skill, and dedication.

This winter, NSP members were on the front lines—saving lives, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the safety of millions of skiers and riders. From the Winter Park gondola evacuation to the rescue of Mikaela Shiffrin at Killington, patrollers showed courage and professionalism at every turn.

Thank you for another season of leadership, safety, and service on the mountain.
