Say Hello to MMCSC's Geriatrics Institute Team
Taking great care of the unique health care needs of older adults is a priority at our hospital. Most are familiar with the James and Sharon Maida Geriatrics Institute, located on the third floor at MMCSC, but we want to introduce the team at our state-of-the-art outpatient practice (from left): Zoranda C., MHA Regional Director RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group; Jacqueline P., RN-BC, BSN, Geriatric RN Coordinator; Maria B., CMA; Carol P., Patient Access Specialist; Karla V., APN and Abhijit Chatterjee, MD, Geriatrician.
This multidisciplinary team coordinates the care of seniors, from inpatient to outpatient, rehab, to outpatient testing, support groups and more, all in a nurturing environment. Our latest ROSE Award Recipient, Maria R. a CCT, was destined for this role. According to a patient she met, two years prior, who was so impressed She wrote, "I met Maria when she was in housekeeping and recommended to her leader that she should be trained as an Aide, and it happened. I was so happy to see her excel! She is an excellent helper, very sweet and extremely professional." Health provides many opportunities for team members to grow their career. Today, we celebrate our Hospitalists, 300 physicians and 130 advanced practice providers, across RWJBarnabas Health. Hospitalists are physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work exclusively in hospital medicine. They coordinate care for hospitalized patients and collaborate with community primary care providers to ensure continuity of care when a patient leaves the hospital.
