❤️ National Wear Red Day – February 6, 2026

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women, and awareness saves lives. To shine a light on women’s heart health, people across the country will wear red and landmarks nationwide will illuminate in support of National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 6.

❤️ Some of our River Valley Primary Care Services team will be wearing red tomorrow to stand with women everywhere and help spread awareness about heart disease prevention, education, and early detection.

Join us by wearing red, starting conversations about heart health, and encouraging the women in your life to prioritize regular checkups and preventive care.❤️

❄️ What to Schedule This Season

When's the last time you had your Vitamin D checked?

If you can't remember (or never have), now's the time!
Winter months mean less sun exposure ☀️, and low Vitamin D can leave you feeling:

Exhausted
Achy
Run down
Just "off"

The good news? It's just a simple blood test 🩺, and if your levels are low, it's easy to fix!

Our team will get your Vitamin D back where it should be.

Ready to feel better? Let's check those levels. 💪

🥦 Weekend Wellness Challenge

Did you know that only about 1 in 10 U.S. adults eat the recommended amount of vegetables each day?

This weekend’s challenge:
🥕 If you don’t usually add vegetables to your meals, add one serving each day.
🥗Already eating vegetables at one meal (like dinner)? Try adding them to another meal, like breakfast or lunch!

Small changes like this can help improve energy, support weight goals, and lower the risk of future health concerns.

If you’ve been thinking about eating better, feeling better about yourself, or preventing health scares, this is a simple place to start.

🌿 Wellness Wednesday Tip

Did you know your sleep schedule affects more than just your energy?

Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day helps:
🧠 Improve focus and memory
❤️ Support heart health
🩺 Regulate blood sugar and hormones
😌 Reduce stress and anxiety

Even small changes, like keeping the same wake-up time on weekdays and weekends, can make a big difference over time.

If you’re feeling run down, moody, or constantly tired, it may be worth talking with a provider about your sleep habits.

🦋 January is Thyroid Awareness Month

Your thyroid may be small, but it plays a big role in your overall health, helping regulate energy, metabolism, heart rate, and body temperature.

Why awareness matters:
⚠️ About 20 million Americans have thyroid disease
⚠️ Up to 60% don’t know they have it
⚠️ Women are 5–8 times more likely than men to be affected
(Source: American Thyroid Association)

Common symptoms can include fatigue, weight changes, mood changes, hair thinning, or feeling unusually cold or hot. Because symptoms are often subtle, thyroid issues can go undiagnosed for years.

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️The good news? A simple blood test can help detect thyroid problems early. If something feels “off,” don’t ignore it, talk with your provider.

📞 Our team is here to help support your thyroid health.

🧠 Know Your Body: The Liver

Your liver is one of the hardest-working organs in your body, and many people don’t realize how much it does every single day.

🔍 What is it?
The liver is a large organ located on the right side of your abdomen, just under your ribs.

⚙️ What does it do?
• Filters toxins from your blood
• Helps digest food and absorb nutrients
• Regulates blood sugar levels
• Supports metabolism and energy storage

📌 Did you know?
• The liver can regenerate itself
• You can have liver disease with little or no symptoms
• Fatty liver disease is increasingly common, even in people who don’t drink alcohol

🧍How to take care of your liver:
• Eat a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins
• Limit sugary drinks and processed foods
• Stay physically active
• Avoid excessive alcohol use
• Get routine checkups and lab work when recommended

Preventive care helps catch issues early. If you have questions about your liver health, your primary care provider is here to help. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
