Such a great message! We think about Good Friday and of course we celebrate His resurrection on Sunday…but what about Saturday! We can all relate to Saturday!
I can’t even fathom being one Jesus’ closest friends or family.
(When I think about His mother Mary watching all that Jesus endured, I could cry for days.)
Not only did they get to know Jesus as one of their closest friends, but they also had to watch helplessly as He was brutally killed.
That Friday had to be the worst day of their life.
It’s easy to forget that after Jesus died on the cross, He didn’t instantly raise from the dead and stand in front of them.
Saturday happened.
..The day that I can only imagine was filled with a deep, sorrowful silence.
The day filled with so many questions.
People waiting, wondering and crying, “where are you, Jesus?!”
Gosh, Isn’t that so much of our heart’s cry today?
Where are you Jesus?!
As we wait. As we ache. As we sit in broken expectations we ask these questions.
I imagine the disciples desperately wondering, what has happened?! Where is he??
..Even though He already told them.
He told them multiple times He would come back.
HE TOLD THEM.
But they forgot.
Oh my goodness... we still forget, don’t we?
I know I do.
We still wonder where Jesus is, even when He has already told us.
He is seated at the right hand of God in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 1:20). He has prepared a place for us there.
In the meantime, He is with us through the Holy Spirit, our advocate.
Jesus Himself says, “I will be with you always, until the very end of the age.” -Matthew 28:20
If you are sitting in your own metaphorical Saturday.. a time of waiting, questioning or sorrow...
Remember that He’s already told us where He is.
His word never changes.
He will always be closer to you than anyone and anything else.
Don’t forget, Sunday always comes.
