🌅 A Story That Hits Different…

Today at Sunrise Recovery, we had the absolute honor of hearing Allison share her story.

She’s 2 years, 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day clean — but trust me, every single day of that recovery was fought for. She grew up in Crooksville, started using at 8 years old, and by 15, was already in handcuffs. The trauma, the loss, the chaos — it ran deep. She battled addiction in all its ugliest forms: needles, overdoses (9 times in a single month), su***de attempts, homelessness, cancer and, TOTALLY losing herself.

And yet... here she is.

A transgender woman who arrived fearful but was embraced and supported at Perry Behavioral Health Choices, Inc.. Someone who showed up sick, broken, and ready to die — but chose to fight. Chose to live.

She completed detox. Then treatment. Then sober living. And now? Allison is a house manager, a college student studying criminal justice, a trusted treasurer at her 12-step fellowship of choice homegroup, and most of all — she's an example that recovery doesn’t care how far you’ve fallen… only that you get back up. 💛

We’re so grateful she chose to spend time with our clients today. Her story reminded all of us addiction DOESN'T discriminate AND what real courage looks like. Not the perfect kind. The messy, trembling, still-showing-up-anyway kind.

🎱🏓 Friday night was a whole vibe!
Our clients spent the evening at Rockhouse 39, (located right here in Lancaster) — shooting pool, playing ping pong, and just enjoying life clean and sober.

Nights like this are what it’s all about: laughter, connection, and remembering that recovery doesn’t have to be heavy all the time. There’s joy on the other side of the pain. Real joy. Shout out to our housing crew here at Sunrise Recovery - Treatment & Sober Living and John Manders for filling a need in this community by providing somewhere wholesome to go and blow off steam.

We do this kind of stuff often — not just because it's fun, but because it helps our people stay focused on what they're fighting for. A better life. A full life.

Today, we had the pleasure of hearing Todd S. share his recovery journey with us—a man who’s been to hell and clawed his way back through into the rooms of Narcotics Anonymous.

From overdosing in a prison basement to sponsoring other men BEHIND bars... from being by his mother during her last days to feeding the homeless and raising his baby girl—Todd laid it all out for our clients.
