Earth Week begins this week.

And I keep returning to this question:

What if tending to Mother Earth walks alongside tending to our own nervous system?

When we slow our breath,
the body softens.
When we pause,
clarity reorganizes.

Mother Earth moves in rhythm — tide in, tide out, season to season.

Perhaps care begins there.
In regulation.
In presence.
In relationship.

Later this week, I’ll be sharing a small offering born from that place.

Stay with me. 🌿

Practitioner Perspective

I’ve been realizing lately how different this path can feel.

Not in a dramatic way…
just quieter.

When you start slowing things down,
you begin to notice how fast everything actually is.

The pace.
The conversations.
The constant pull from one thing to the next.

And it can feel a little lonely at times.

Not because you’re alone…
but because you’re not moving at that same speed anymore.

This is something I see with clients too.

Their body has been trying to slow them down for a while…
they just haven’t had the space to listen yet.

Sometimes the work isn’t doing more.

It’s finally giving the body a chance to catch up.

When Forward Movement Feels Hesitant

When forward movement feels hesitant,
the pelvis often reflects that holding.

You might notice:
• One hip resting slightly higher than the other
• Subtle imbalance when bending forward
• Uneven weight through the legs
• Guarding through the lower pelvis
• Movement that feels careful instead of fluid

These signs are often protective.
They don’t necessarily mean weakness.
They can reflect reluctance beneath the next step.

As the sacrum softens and balance restores,
forward motion tends to feel steadier and more natural again. 🌿

Feeling Stuck

Sometimes the pelvis feels stiff.
Unyielding.

Like you want to move forward —
but your next step won’t release.
Like your body won’t follow your intention.

You might notice:
• Wanting change but circling the same decision
• Revisiting the past instead of stepping into what’s next
• A sense of being unsupported beneath your next move
• Tightness through the hips or sacrum
• Movement that feels guarded instead of fluid

Sometimes the whisper is reluctance.

When the sacrum begins to soften,
forward motion feels possible again. 🌿

Practitioner Perspective

You don’t need more time.
You need less distraction.

We all say we don’t have 15–20 minutes to sit, breathe, or be still…
…but we’ll scroll for an hour without even noticing.

It’s not about having time.
It’s about choosing where your attention goes.

Because your body is already speaking to you.
In quiet ways. Subtle ways.

But if your mind is constantly pulled outward…
you miss the whisper.

And then your body has to get louder.

You don’t need to change everything.

Just start by putting your phone down…
and sitting with yourself for a few minutes.

That’s how it begins. 🌿

And when you’re ready to listen more closely…
I’m here to support you.

When the Body Braces

When the lower back braces,
the body often reflects that uncertainty.

You might notice:
• A lower back that feels tight or guarded
• Movement at the waist that feels uneven
• One side bending more easily than the other
• A subtle shift in standing posture
• A sense of holding through the hips or pelvis

These patterns are often protective.
They don’t necessarily mean weakness.
They can reflect the body searching for support.

As the lower spine softens and stabilizes,
movement and confidence tend to feel more grounded again. 🌿

Feeling Disempowered

Sometimes the lower back feels braced.
Unsure.

Like a twinge of mistrust.
Like a pang of doubt.

You might notice:
• Standing firm but questioning it
• Second-guessing your decisions
• Holding your ground with effort
• Feeling unsupported in your choices
• A quiet thinning of confidence

Sometimes the whisper is thinning confidence.

When the bracing softens through the lower spine,
confidence returns with ease. 🌿

🌿 Practitioner Perspective

Recently during a session, I noticed something interesting about a client’s breathing.

As she rested on the table, her breath moved through the lower part of the body but seemed to stop before reaching the chest. The chest area stayed fairly still while the lower torso moved with each breath.

Sometimes the body develops patterns like this over time — breathing just enough to get by, but not allowing the breath to fully expand.

Later that day she shared something she noticed after the session:

“I felt like I could take full deep breaths, which I had noticed I was struggling to do. ”

Often the body continues adjusting after a session as tension begins to soften and space gradually returns.

Moments like that are a beautiful reminder of how naturally the body can return to fuller breathing. 🌿

When the Breath Stays Shallow

When the breath stays shallow,
the body often reflects that holding.

You might notice:
• The chest rising high instead of expanding wide
• Limited movement through the mid-back during breath
• A rounded upper back
• Shoulders subtly lifted or braced
• A feeling of tightness across the ribs

These patterns are often quiet.
They don’t always feel dramatic.
Sometimes they reflect long-term guarding.

As the breath deepens and the chest softens,
space and steadiness tend to return naturally. 🌿

Feeling Overburdened

Sometimes the chest feels heavy.
Weighted.

Like the breath doesn’t fully drop.
Like there isn’t quite enough space to expand.

You might notice:
• Carrying more than your share
• Feeling responsible for everyone
• Protecting your heart
• Rarely prioritizing yourself
• Feeling like you’re holding everything together

Sometimes the whisper is protection.

When the chest softens and the breath deepens,
space returns with ease. 🌿

🌿 Practitioner Perspective

One question clients often ask is how they can support the work between sessions.

My answer is usually simple.

Give your nervous system small moments throughout the day to shift out of “doing” mode and into “rest and repair.”

This doesn’t require a complicated routine.

Sometimes it looks like:
• taking a few slow, intentional breaths
• pausing for a moment of quiet
• putting the phone down for a while
• focusing on one task at a time instead of multitasking
• going for a short, quiet walk
• doing a few light stretches to help the body soften

Even small pauses can give the nervous system space to settle.

In my own day, I try to practice this in simple ways.

If someone comes into my office while I’m working, I stop what I’m doing and give them my full attention. When the conversation is finished, I return to the task I was doing before.

Not doing both at the same time.

Small shifts like that give the nervous system moments to reset.

Over time, those moments add up — and the body often finds its way back toward ease. 🌿

When the Voice Hesitates

When the voice hesitates,
the neck and shoulders often reflect that holding.

You might notice:
• A slight tilt through the neck
• One shoulder resting higher than the other
• Tension across the upper back
• Movement that feels guarded or restricted
• A sense of tightness where the neck meets the shoulders

These patterns are often subtle.

When expression tightens,
the body often carries that tension quietly.

As the neck and shoulders soften,
movement and communication tend to feel easier again. 🌿
