Bringing Light to Invisible Disabilities: This year, the theme of our October Accessibility Awareness Month was Invisible Disabilities, and among the awareness tactics that were deployed were podcasts hosted by Thayer Memorial Library (TML). One of the podcasts featured Lavender Darcangelo, a very talented singer who’s fame was sealed after she won “America’s Got Talent” Golden Buzzer! Many adore Lavender and her incredible performances, but many may not know of her challenges with Invisible Disabilities. Take a listen to this interesting, thought-provoking podcast hosted by Rachel Rosengard of TML, and joined by Mike McCue, Chair of the Lancaster Commission on Disability, Lavender and her father Wil Darcangelo, to learn more about invisible disabilities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8Cg74rVPPc.

October is Accessibility Awareness Month in Lancaster, and this year we are promoting Mindfulness of Invisible Disabilities, which are physical or mental conditions that are not visible from the outside, yet can limit or challenge a person's movements, senses, activities, or ability to function in society. In addition, a 36-page Emergency Preparedness Guide, which was released in digital format last year, is being printed and distributed to all Lancaster residents this month in an effort to save lives and reduce injury, stress, and confusion. Lastly, podcasts on invisible disabilities will be available on the Thayer Memorial Library website: https://thayermemoriallibrary.org/.
