Great company and killer fish taco tonight at Monday Bitez in Lancaster. Look for a post for next month's meet up.
I will be there as close to 6 as possible. I usually sit back from the trucks.
Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on. This won't be a typical Breastfeeding Social, just a night in the park. (Of course I'll answer questions if you have any).
Looking forward to seeing ya'll.
Who's up for meeting in person at Monday Bitez in Lancaster on the 6/6?
It's been a long time since any in person BFSocial.... If you've ever been a part of Social, let's get together for some food and fun.
Before the world shut down we met in person weekly to share, talk, have lunch and let the babies and toddlers play. It was a place for folks to make friends and learn.
Tragically one of our own lost her precious son this week in a terrible accident.
There has been a go fund me page set up for our friend to help get through the unimaginable.
If you'd like to donate, here's the link

Bring your infant feeding or other baby related questions.
~Always free~
So grab a snack and a drink. Come even if baby is napping.
We'll do an open forum, and answer your questions.
Teething? Supply? Diapers? Fussy? What's normal? Sore ni***es? Tired? How to get out of the house? Intimacy? Birth Control? You name it...Nothing is off the table, we're here to help. Text me for the log on info 661..916..1290
Years ago I had a vision of a free group, where parents could meet, share experiences and receive infant feeding help while enjoying peer association. This vision evolved into Breastfeeding Social and served the Antelope Valley for years, serving hundreds.
Although things have drastically changed since 2020, Breastfeeding Social is still here and now with the help of Zoom, can reach far beyond the geographical boundaries of the Antelope Valley.
If you'd like to join us and just talk with other parents; grab something to eat, get comfy and log on, we'd love for you to join.
Every Wednesday, 12:30-2:00.
Hey Friends....
It's been awhile. Breastfeeding Social is still going on via zoom every Wednesday at 12:30. I miss you all!!! Even if you've graduated to solids, stop by sometime and say hello. Shoot me a text, I'll send you the code- come have lunch with us!
In other news, my daughter and daughter in law are working on my Social Media. If you have photos that you would be willing to share, I'm looking for all kinds right now. I need ones with babies, baby wearing, starting solids, sleeping, swaddled, breast and bottle feeding, pumping, skin to skin, pacifier use, twins, NICU baby, and if you're really ready to share the nitty gritty; cracks, blebs, mastitis, spraying milk etc.
If you have something you'd be interested in letting me use, PM me. You will have my eternal gratitude.
I think about you all often..... Miss the in person group so much. Zoom is good, and I'm so glad to have kept it going the help of Sheryl and Rachel! Hopefully we'll be back in the classroom before too much longer!
Breastfeeding Social>>
12:30-2:00 Wednesday
Come zoom with us and get your infant feeding questions answered.
Member question.
"So I know it's kind of hard to see in this photo (with the exception of the one cloth) but when I wash my kid's diapers and I put them up to dry they have pink stains on them. I'm 99% sure it isn't bleeding from the diapers themselves because it isn't on the inside fabric of the diapers or the microfiber cloths, just the natural fiber cloths (I think cotton and bamboo?) When I do his diapers I double stuff them with one of the natural fibers on top of the microfiber and I do stuff it into the pocket, the inserts do not touch his skin.
Any ideas?
Tia!"
I sure do miss our weekly gatherings and all of you. I know it's not the same, but we're still here, on zoom for you. Every Wednesday 12:30-2:00.
Send me a message if you'd like the login and passcode info.
Even if you're long past needing help, stop in to say hi, your presence just might be the thing that helps someone else.
Shout out to for the idea
You're invited.

Who wants to be social?
Guess who's back doing in person consults?😊
Could not have said it better myself.
I have a love/hate relationship with these little silicone gadgets.
What was your experience? Were you #1, #2 or #3. Or perhaps something else.
So you’ve probably heard about this thing called a Haakaa. You might even have one! Maybe you used it and loved it and spread the word to all of your new mama friends! And yep, indeed, it was pretty revolutionary when it was first released: A one-piece, soft flexible device that you just stick ont...

The AV Breastfeeding Coalition and AV AAIMM CAT will be hosting a Chocolate Milk Documentary Virtual Screening (sponsored by First 5 LA) followed by a Panel Discussion on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 10am – 11:30am. Registrants will receive a secure link to watch the documentary 72 hours before the panel discussion which will give people time to watch over the weekend.
CHOCOLATE MILK: THE DOCUMENTARY is an exploration of the racial divide in breastfeeding. Told through the narratives of three African American women: a new mother, a midwife and a WIC lactation educator, the film seeks to answer the longstanding question of why more African American women are not breastfeeding. By creating an engaging narrative centered around the challenges of breastfeeding, Chocolate Milk will spark public discussion on how communities can better support black mothers.

Hey Friends.
Many of you are cloth diaper users. Anyone ready to destash? Grandson comming soon.
With the restrictions in place and some parents having concerns about going into providers for weight checks, we have started a Mobile Weight Clinic on Tuesdays. This can be helpful if you have a little one and are concerned with their weight progress. Call to make an appointment.
We've also taken Breastfeeding Social to the virtual room. If you have infant feeding questions, please join us on Wednesdays from 12:30-2:00.
Call me or private message me for the link.
Both offers above are done as community benefit, no charge.
Tomorrow. 10 am. We still have a few slots left. Call for your appointment.
Hi everyone. 💁🏻♀️ Someone sent me a message on, I think it was Saturday, with an offer of some things. I briefly saw the message and cannot find it now! Not even sure if it was from this page, but the person mentioned group, so maybe. If it was you, PLEASE reach out again. 🤷🏻♀️
I am on board with Safer At Home, but as many in my field have expressed, we have concerns with baby's not being able to see their pediatrician, WIC or other places for weight checks. I have many clients that are seeing the care provider at 2/3 days then not have an appointment for 2 months. Until this time of COVID19, there were places to reach out to for weight checks, such as my Breastfeeding Social, WIC or other community programs, now though many are closed for in person help. For this reason, I've decided, with the help of my friend Rachel, to do this for our community. It will be free, and we will have N95 masks and gloves. We have thought this through and see this as a safe way to help out the families of the AV. Please call for your appointment. There are limited slots and I anticipate it filling quickly.
Zoom Breastfeeding Social, tomorrow at 12:30. PM or call me for the link.

In an earlier post I explained why it’s time to change the way we teach breastfeeding. I described research findings indicating that early breastfeeding is easier when mothers lean back with their babies’ weight resting on their body.1 (See my new Blog History category “Laid-Ba

Breastfeeding Social is Dawn’s way of giving back to the community that she has been part of since 1985. It’s a place for moms to come, relax, have some nosh and discuss breastfeeding and all the things that come with it. Along with the camaraderie from other moms, you will get the hands on help from Dawn, who turned her experience of breastfeeding her six children into a career as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Your baby can be weighed if you wish, both pre and post feed to give you an idea of what baby is transferring at a feeding. Suggestions on improving latch and/or position can help with pain some moms may experience.
Come join us and bring your questions and concerns. Or just come to hang out and make some new friends.
