We have an exciting announcement!

As mandated by New York State regulations, shelters must adhere to specific guidelines to ensure the structural integrity and cleanliness of shelters and to also ensure animal welfare standards are met. In December, the state introduced Article 26-C, a set of stricter regulations that required shelters to make necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.

Following an inspection by the state, we are proud to announce that Lancaster Dog Control has become the first municipal shelter in all of New York State to pass the Article 26-C inspection and the second overall, narrowly following an SPCA in New York City by only one day!

This accomplishment reflects our commitment to providing exceptional care for the animals within our municipality. We would like to thank the town and all of you for the continuous support. We are raising the bar for other shelters and animal care in New York State and that’s something to be really proud of ❤️

When you see flashing lights on the roadside, slow down and MOVE OVER! 🚨❄️

Giving first responders space is even more critical in snow and icy conditions — it keeps everyone safe. Slow down, change lanes if you can, and stay alert.
