Polish Salt Lamps
The quality of Polish salt lamps is unmatched. There are several grades of salt rock used to produce each individual lamp. Grading includes the natural peculiarities of the salt crystal, as well as the mineral content. Nature made these crystals. So even within a color group some are darker or lighter than others, and there are often other colors in the crystal created by the minerals. This adds to the beauty and individuality of each lamp. No two are ever the same. The salt products are produced from the salt mines in Poland near Krakow, which is superior to salt rock mined at other locations in the world. Polish salt lamps have distinctive characteristics of clarity, color, and crystal bond. Unlike salt crystal, such as that mined in Pakistan or Asia, Polish lamps will not easily chip, color fade, nor erode as other cheaply produced lamps. The lamps, which are illuminated from inside with a bulb, produce and emit negative ions. Today the health benefits of negative ionizers are well recognized all over the world. Beside air ionization and negative ion production, these salt lamps, illuminated by a light bulb, produce a soft glow of pale orange to yellow to red shading. This wonderful peaceful glow, and ionized clean fresh air creates a balanced, calm, meditative atmosphere to sleep or relax in. Salt products emitting negative ions have been historically used for:

Wieliczka Salt Mine, Poland
14 km from Krakow lies the city of Wieliczka. This city is famous for having the oldest operational salt mine in Europe. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is a World Heritage Site. This mine has been worked continuously since Medieval times. Miners have carved elaborate underground rooms and sculptures within the Miocene salt. Internet photos show a great cathedral carved entirely in salt, including floor, walls, ceiling, chandeliers and decorations. The Wieliczka Spa once functioned between 1826 to 1846. Its spa facility was re-instituted by Professor Mieczyslaw Skulimowski in 1958. Professor Skulimowski was also the first person worldwide to begin research in a completely new branch of medical therapy - i.e. subterranotherapy. Today the underground chambers of mines serve as wards for treating respiratory ailments, such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, throat and larynx ailments, skin disease and allergies. The salt taken from the Wieliczka salt mine, and other nearby Polish salt mines, is far superior to salt rock in Pakistan, Asia, China and the USA. This salt has a distinct clarity and color, excellent crystal bond, natural design and a high mineral content. The salt, when lit as a lamp, has also been tested in a laboratory for ionization output.
