🚑📚 Schuyler County Ambulance District had some special visitors from the Schuyler R-1 School District kindergarten class last week while learning about EMS!

The students got to be our EMS partners during story time, learn what EMS does in our community, get hands-on with the ambulances and equipment, and even tour the helicopter! MU-4 - Kirksville, MO🚁

We always enjoy opportunities to educate and inspire our community’s youngest learners. Thank you for spending part of your day with us! 💙

This Nurses Week, we want to take a moment to recognize two truly incredible nurses on our team- Danielle and Melissa💙

The care and compassion you show aren’t just part of your job-they’re part of who you are.

In moments when people are at their most vulnerable, you bring comfort, strength, and calm. You make a lasting difference not only for your patients, but for their families, your coworkers, and this entire community.

We are deeply grateful for your dedication, your heart, and the countless ways you go above and beyond every single day. It does not go unnoticed.
Thank you for everything you give.

Happy Nurses Week 🩺 ♥️

Schuyler County Ambulance District was happy to assist the Schuyler County Baseball/Softball Association by ensuring their AED is up to date and in proper working condition.

Quick access to a functioning AED can make all the difference during a cardiac emergency. We are proud to support the safety of our local athletes, coaches, families, and community. Working together, we can help make our ballfields a safer place for everyone. 🚑⚾🥎

What a great opportunity to support our local school and their Stop the Bleed initiative. Programs like this help strengthen our community's preparedness and ensure lifesaving resources are readily available when they are needed most. Schuyler County Ambulance District is proud to partner with our local schools in promoting safety, preparedness, and community resilience. 🚑

QUEEN CITY, Mo. — Beginning next school year, Missouri law will require all public and charter schools to implement Stop the Bleed protocols, install bleeding control kits and train staff

Our team at Schuyler County Ambulance District spent the evening continuing to sharpen critical lifesaving skills through hands-on training in airway management and SALT 🚦Triage, enhancing our preparedness for large-scale, high-stress emergency situations.

This training focuses on effective patient assessment and prioritization during mass casualty incidents, ensuring we can provide the best possible care when it matters most.

We are committed to continuous training and improvement so we can better serve and protect our community.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Andrew Mericle with EMS Education - University Hospital for providing expert instruction, and to our Medical Director, Dr. Stilley, for his continued leadership and commitment to clinical excellence.

Ongoing education and preparedness remain essential to delivering high-quality emergency medical care to the communities we serve. 💙🚑

🚑 April Training Update 🚑

This month, our team at Schuyler County Ambulance District has been training with a new piece of equipment called the Butterfly BVM-a tool that helps us breathe for patients during emergencies when they can’t breathe on their own.

🫁 What does it do?
It gently pushes oxygen into a patient’s lungs until they can breathe on their own or get more advanced care.

💡 Why is it important?

• Safer for patients: It helps us give the right amount of air-not too much and not too fast-which protects the lungs and helps the heart do its job.

• Works for all ages: One device can be adjusted to fit infants, children, and adults.

• Helps us in high-stress moments: Its design naturally slows things down, helping our providers give steady, controlled breaths when every second counts.

Our crews train regularly on new equipment like this to make sure we’re ready to provide the best care possible for our community when you need us most. ❤️

Severe weather continues to be expected this afternoon and evening. All severe hazards (large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes) will be possible. However, large hail will be the primary threat during initial stages of storm development, with damaging winds becoming more likely as storms congeal into lines or clusters. Isolated tornadoes are also possible, especially if storms remain discrete. Stay weather aware today!
