Only 24 percent of the nearly 500,000 estimated sexual assaults occurring each year in the U.S. are reported to law enforcement.

SCCADVASA Executive Director Sara Barber recently spoke with SC Public Radio's Kristina Thacker about the prevalence of sexual violence and why so many survivors remain silent.

"Coming forward is a huge risk. Especially if it's someone who has power over you… your boss, or pastor in your church, or a parent. That can be very complicated," she said.

PCASA had a productive training today for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and for Denim Day!! Great turn out with our collaborating partners and other agencies in Lancaster, Chester, and Fairfield.

The Speedway Children’s Charity’s Night of Joy event was last night. PCASA and our great friends at The Lancaster Children’s Home were both invited to this special event and were awarded grants for children in our area.
