Client Review "Design for change has a good counselor support system. They do the 12 steps daily and show a good insight about addiction and how to recover. This is my third time at treatment but first time here and believe I may have found the last piece that Will set me free. I appreciate the time that was spent to better my life - Daniel J"

Life can feel overwhelming when addiction has turned everything upside down.

But here’s something powerful we’ve learned at Design for Change:

✨ Stability changes everything.

Recovery isn’t just about quitting a substance — it’s about building structure, creating healthy routines, and surrounding yourself with supportive community. Small daily habits can lead to big life transformation.

✔ Waking up with purpose
✔ Setting healthy boundaries
✔ Showing up consistently
✔ Choosing connection over isolation

These simple steps help rebuild confidence, restore relationships, and create lasting change.

If you or someone you love is navigating recovery, our newest blog shares how structure and community can turn chaos into clarity.

Rebuilding trust after addiction is not easy — and it doesn’t happen overnight.

When someone enters recovery, there is often hope… but also hesitation. Families may still feel hurt, guarded, or unsure of what comes next. That’s normal. Trust isn’t restored through promises — it’s rebuilt through consistent action, healthy boundaries, and time.

Recovery is not just about sobriety. It’s about repairing relationships, improving communication, and creating a foundation that supports long-term change.

In our latest blog, we talk about:
✔️ Why trust takes time to rebuild
✔️ The role of healthy boundaries
✔️ How families can heal too
✔️ What real accountability looks like
✔️ Why support matters for everyone involved

If your family is navigating recovery, you don’t have to do it alone. Healing is possible — and families can recover together.

Addiction impacts far more than the individual who is struggling. It reshapes family dynamics, erodes trust, creates emotional instability, and often leaves loved ones feeling confused, hurt, and uncertain about the future. When someone enters recovery, there is often relief — but also hesitation....

They look like fruit-flavored pills, sugary gummies and imitation ice cream cones, but these products contain a chemical compound commonly known as 7-OH.

The products are sold legally at gas stations and convenience stores, often marketed as natural supplements. But the Food and Drug Administration warns 7-OH could drive the next wave of the opioid crisis.

7-OH is a concentrated byproduct of kratom, a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. Kratom’s leaves are dried or powdered and used in teas or capsules.

According to the Mayo Clinic, at lower doses, kratom can act as a stimulant, making the user feel more alert. At high doses, it’s more like a sedative, and users claim it reduces pain and anxiety.

Brightly packaged pills and gummies marketed as “natural” and sold legally in gas stations and corner markets could hold a dark secret of addiction. InvestigateTV+ examines the dangers behind this substance and efforts to ban it from store shelves.

"I am so beyond thankful I found this place. I've tried a few rehab locations before this and none of them were as AA program focused as this one is. I want to stay here as long as I can because I feel like I'm growing every day with the counseling the group sessions I'm just being comfortable with those people who are here. I would highly recommend this place to anybody who is struggling with alcoholism or drug abuse. They are focused on taking care of us and helping us to learn where we did wrong. I have hope today because of this program. Joe is the most amazing human being giving back to those of us who struggle with alcoholism and drug addiction. He has chosen great counselors and therapists and has proven to be so helpful to me. I so hope anybody who is struggling sees this and realizes this is a good place to be." - Beth B

Client Review: "Even though I knew I needed help for my addiction. I was on the fence about rehab for a long time. But after completing residential treatment at DFC, I wish I had done it sooner! So glad I ended up going to DFC for treatment. Not only was the program immersive and comprehensive but the staff were also welcoming, knowledgeable and sympathetic. The facility itself is clean and comfortable. I’m looking forward to resuming life sober and continuing with my recovery. If you find yourself debating on whether you should do rehab. I strongly suggest you do! It’s life changing."- Angel M

Kevin McEnroe admits that he can relate to Nick Reiner’s addiction struggles and what it’s like to be born into a famous family — even after Nick was charged with two counts of first degree murder for the deaths of his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

Kevin — the son of John McEnroe and Tatum O’Neal — wrote an essay for The Small Bow, published on Monday, February 2, about his thoughts on the film Being Charlie, a film Nick wrote and his late dad directed.

Kevin McEnroe discusses Nick Reiner and Being Charlie while reflecting on addiction and being a child of celebrity

💬 A message from one of our Family Workshop participants:

“I have attended the Family Workshop many times and it has helped me so much. Dealing with addicted loved ones is incredibly hard, but having a strong support system makes all the difference.
