New York, NY- The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization that is the world’s largest registry of purebred and mixed-breed dogs, and a leading voice for canine welfare and responsible ownership, is excited to announce the winners of the 2025 AKC® Fast CAT® Invitational. The event took place October 15-18, 2025 at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington, OH. The five fastest dogs from each breed, determined by their rankings in the AKC Fast Coursing Ability Tests (Fast CAT), were invited to compete in the 6th annual AKC Fast CAT Invitational.

Over three days of preliminary runs, each dog competed twice in one of two divisions: Pure Speed and Speed of the Breed. In the Pure Speed division, the top 10 fastest dogs within each height class were recognized based on their actual running times. In the Speed of the Breed division, the top 10 dogs that most exceeded their breed’s average speed were honored. The highest-ranking dog in each division earned the titles of 2025 Pure Speed Champion and 2025 Speed of the Breed Champion, respectively.

The winners:

A total of 420 of the best Fast CAT dogs from 47 U.S. states and three Canadian Provinces representing 196 individual breeds, came together to compete for a chance to be named Pure Speed Champion and/or Speed of the Breed Champion.

Pure Speed Division:

Fritsch FCAT2, a Greyhound known as “Fritz,” owned by David Nevius & Chris Kronick.

Jammin' Bone To Be Wild FCAT CGC TKN VHMA FTN, a Whippet known as “Bodhi,” owned by Scott Dempsey.
*This is Bodhi’s second year in a row placing in the Pure Speed Division HC 1, after winning 1st place last year.

Vj Gi Jenny FCAT, a Greyhound known as “Ginny,” owned by Patricia Rector

4th Place
Bitterblue's Krazy For Kool Aid FCAT FTI, a Whippet known as “Kool,” owned by Amanda Haldeman

Miss Brindi Brindle FCAT13 FITB, an All-American Dog known as “Brindi,” owned by Evette & Ted Danielak.
*This is Brindi’s second year in a row winning the Pure Speed Division in HC 2.

AKC Press Release - October 21, 2025 - Winners of the inaugural AKC Scent Work Master National announced.

New York, NY- The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization that is the world’s largest registry of purebred and mixed-breed dogs, and a leading voice for canine welfare and responsible ownership, is excited to announce the winners of the inaugural AKC Scent Work Master National. The event is the first of its kind for the American Kennel Club, and the winner has received the prefix “SWNC” and is known as the Scent Work Master National Champion.

Nearly 200 dogs from more than 40 states representing 66 breeds gathered for the first national Scent Work event on October 12-14, 2025, at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington, OH. The competition was held in a three-day format. The first two days were the Preliminary rounds and the third day the Final. Day 1 (Preliminary): All dogs were tested on all four elements – Container, Buried, Interior and Exterior at the Master level. Search time was 2 minutes for each of the elements. Day 2 (Preliminary): All dogs were tested on three elements – Buried, Interior and Exterior at the Master level. Search time was again 2 minutes for each of the elements. The top 100 dogs determined by highest combined daily scores advanced to Day 3 (Finals) where they were tested on a combination of elements together in multiple search areas.

“Congratulations to all of the competitors at the very first AKC Scent Work Master National,” said Caroline Murphy, AKC Director of Performance Events. “Watching these dogs at work was nothing short of incredible. We look forward to continuing this exciting competition.”

AKC ReUnite is in Alaska assisting Typhoon Halong Victims and their Pets.

As many of you may be aware, the Yukon-Kuskokwim River Delta region of Alaska was devastated on October 12th by the massive reach of Typhoon Halong. The Alaska National Guard and the 207th Aviation Company was called in to evacuate about 1,500 homes. People were told to evacuate with ONE bag.
Bethel Friends of Canines (501 c3) is a shelter that has been doing amazing work flying in and rescuing dogs and pets left stranded in the disaster area. They are working hard to collect and feed animals, treat animals that have been harmed, and to reunite these animals with their owners.

AKC ReUnite was able to send a $5000 donation to Bethel Friends of Canines. This will make such a difference!
