Jemison Family Chiropractic

Jemison Family Chiropractic Jemison Family Chiropractic is a family-owned and operated chiropractic office located in Lancaster Dr. Dave shares the office with his wife, Doreen Jemison.

Jemison Family Chiropractic is a family owned and operated chiropractic office on the charming Gallery Row of Downtown Lancaster, PA. Dr. David Jemison has been the owner and clinician for over 30 years, with a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Pennsylvania Straight Chiropractic. Known as Dr. Dave to his many patients, he has seen tremendous healing from auto accidents, sports injuries, chronic pain, and everyday wear and tear. He often uses the Koren Specific Technique, and can discuss with patients what type of care they prefer, as he can use a tool to adjust rather than the traditional manipulations. He works with many different insurance companies, and a diverse patient body, as many patients have been with him since the office opened over 25 years ago! Doreen is a Licensed Massage Therapist who treats patients using Pfrimmer deep muscle massage. Doreen also uses craniosacral therapy, jin shin do and other massage techniques in her practice. Doreen offers flexible hours to work around her patients' schedules.

Have you ever had an inexplicable desire to travel to a specific place? For me, it has always been Scotland! I mean, men in kilts aside🤣, there is something about its landscape and its folks’ sense of humor that creates an almost magnetic pull for me. So- WE ARE HEADING TO SCOTLAND!!
Eeek!
So, please plan ahead if you want to schedule a massage or an adjustment. The office will be closed September 12-24. We have Highland coos and Glasgow murals to see (and perhaps a dram of whisky to taste.) And please send any suggestions for hidden gems of Edinburgh or Glasgow. (We are doing a bus tour of Inverness and the Highlands.)

As my 60th birthday quickly approaches, I find myself being introspective and contemplative. The mantra that keeps running through my mind is, “Learn to pivot with grace.” I recognize that I have held beliefs that no longer serve me. Some are minor and dorky. Others are lifelong and deeply ingrained. These two pics show two of the inconsequential beliefs that I am releasing:
1. Jigsaw puzzles are dumb and boring.
2. The DE beaches always outshine the NJ beaches.

Now for the harder work on some of my other false opinions. (I will need to get back to you on those!)🤭

Happy Wednesday, y’all. We are here on Prince ready to massage your muscles and check your spines.

This pic is from our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding a few weeks ago. Dr. Dave and I had the honor of being lifted up during the hora. I researched what the symbolism of the hora meant. This dance is first done by lifting the newly married couple. Then the parents of the bride and groom are similarly raised. It is about surrounding the family in love and blessing. It is certainly not something that we practice at Mennonite weddings, but as you can see from my expression, I loooved every minute of it!

As we look ahead to celebrating Independence Day, our hearts are heavy as recognize the lack of community and mutuality in our nation and our world. So, my prayer this July 4th is that we can find our common ground and that even if traditions or practices are not comfortable for us, we can be open to them. Our leaders are misguided and have lost the thread. May we weave together as a community of Americans and stand firmly in the battle for everyone’s independence on July 4th and every day.

The office will be closed on July 4. We are heading to the bungalow to sit on the side porch and hike in the woods. See y’all next week.

Pictured here are some of the repurposed flowers from our daughter’s wedding. We are grinning broadly and still a little weepy, but dang, that was a magical day!
Regular hours in the office this week. Pop in and see us.

We’re not “lion” when we say it is an absolute privilege to provide chiropractic and massage care for you. 😝 Celebrating Dr. Dave and fathers everywhere with a bad dad joke as we come into Fathers Day weekend. We are so thankful for the dads who raised us and the solid values they instilled in us.
Just as a heads up, Doreen will only be seeing clients Monday and Tuesday next week (June 16 and 17.) Dr. Dave will see patients through lunch on Friday, June 20. We are preparing for our daughter and new son’s wedding!! Squeal! If you think of it, say a prayer and send good vibes for a rain free, low humidity day on June 21 as we would love to have the ceremony outdoors as planned. (We know that is no small wish this summer!)

I wish everyone would have the opportunity to see our National Parks and explore this diverse country of ours. It is humbling to stand before majestic waterfalls and enormous sequoias. It is humbling to figure out how to climb over your partner to go to the tiny bathroom in an Airstream. It is a delight to laugh uproariously at a dorky squirrel statue at a hotel decorated with quirky art.

Dr. Dave and I are back in the office. We will be closed Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. Is this rainy weather getting you down? Schedule an appointment for next week. I still have the heating pad on the massage table!

The top portion of this photo depicts the incredible vista in Yosemite NP where our daughter and future son-in-law were engaged. The embroidery underneath is supposed to be my creative interpretation of that space. Dr. Dave and I hope to see this waterfall in person as we head to Yosemite this week! We will get to scratch another NP off our poster! Even more exciting is the opportunity to hang with some of our favorite people and explore their world.
The office will be closed May 6-13 as we travel. See you bright and early Wednesday, May 14.

A new day is dawning. As I listened to a mindfulness meditation this morning, it encouraged me to “recollect your values as you head out into the world.” Recollect could be pronounced “re-collect”.
We were with old friends this weekend and our topics of conversation ranged from annuities to family resemblances to our current political maelstrom. But being with old friends is like returning to a touchstone that helps you “re-collect.”
So, just to be clear, Dr. Dave and I are committed to offering care to all folks in our Lancaster community regardless of religious affiliation or sexual identity. It is our privilege to serve you.
We will be OPEN this Friday, April 18, but will be closed next Friday, April 25 for Jadey J.’s birthday!

Man, the trees here in the city are stunning! Happy Spring, y’all! Just a reminder that if you get a tad overly ambitious in the garden, we can set you straight. There is nothing quite like digging in the dirt after a winter hiatus. And if you feel some achy muscles after bending and planting, there is nothing like a massage and/or adjustment to recalibrate your body.💗

Won’t you be our neighbors? Our friend, Harry who owned the tailor shop around the corner on Chestnut St. sadly passed two years ago. His property is for sale. Dave contacted the realtor and she admitted they are starting with a higher price (and it definitely needs some work.) But, it is a stellar location. Plus we could share a courtyard!

Isn’t it amazing how one can live in a community for over 30 years and still be stumble upon new places? Last weekend we had the privilege of attending a Hershey Bear’s game that had been a Christmas gift. Wow! Ice hockey is super fun (and our surrounding fans graciously explained OT rules to us.) Sunday night we went to First Post in York to celebrate my mom’s birthday. It felt like an old time saloon. (We were waiting for cowboys and dancing girls to emerge through swinging doors!) Have you discovered any new spots recently?
