The holidays are just around the corner, which means that holiday decorating is as well! Unfortunately, every year thousands of homeowners suffer painful injuries as a result of accidents related to holiday decorating.
Injuries from ladders, electric shock, tripping over wires, lifting and stretching and more will put a damper on your holiday 🎄 season and beyond.
Here are a few important safety reminders as you get started decorating this season:
1. Follow ladder safety. Avoid using metal ladders when hanging electrical wires. Only allow 1 person on the ladder at a time. Ensure the ladder is at least tall enough that three steps are above the roof line when getting on the roof. Wear safety/sturdy shoes.
2. Use outdoor extension cords and thoroughly inspect all cords and lights for frays or damage.
3. Plug all electric decorations into GFCI outlets.
4. Use only decorations designed for outdoors.
5. Never staple or nail wires.
Bonus tip: stretch thoroughly before starting, and use proper form when lifting from the ground! 💪🏼
