To the unions and federal employees across this country:
Some nights make you think a little deeper. Not about headlines, politics, or noise — about people. We’ve been able to talk to a lot of you over the past months.
About the federal employee sitting at their kitchen table tonight wondering how they’re going to survive after getting hurt on the job. The postal employee trying to hold onto their career. The prison officer dealing with chronic pain while working around inmates who want them de@d. The AFGE member trying to figure out how to protect their future. The APWU member overwhelmed by the system. The FLEOA member wondering if anyone actually understands what they’re going through. The employee who gave years of service to this great country and now feels completely lost inside a system they don’t understand - That’s what drives me.
And despite all the pressure, long flights, long nights, criticism, stress, and the reality that this mission sometimes puts a target on my back, I still believe injured federal employees deserve better. Better education. Better support. Better guidance. Better doctors. Better treatment from a grateful country.
I always say the system shouldn’t be more painful than the injury itself, but too often, it is. That’s the truth.
I also want unions and federal employees to know something clearly: I don’t take your trust lightly. Every conversation at a union hall, every Wednesday Night OWCP Chat, every conference, every handshake, and every story someone shares with me about losing hope stays with me. Because this has never just been business to me. This mission matters.
And no matter how difficult the road gets, I still believe we can help more people, educate more employees, and continue making a difference nationwide. We’re still here. We’re still fighting. And we’re not done yet.
And one thing about me — I’m not singing the “Hey Hey Goodbye” song until it’s actually over. And it’s not even close to being over.
