NARIC is a library and information center funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). We serve to connect researchers, rehabilitation professionals, administrators, educators, and people with disabilities to the research and resources they need to be fully successful in their endeavors. The contents of NARIC's website and original information products were developed under a contract from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (contract ). NIDILRR is a Center within the Administration for Community Living (ACL), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Presenters will discuss whether and what an employer can ask, how to support a job seeker or employee in making the choice to disclose, and what the interactive process means. The Life Impact Burn Recovery Evaluation (LIBRE) Profile, developed by the NIDILRR-funded Boston-Harvard Burn Injury Model System Center (BHBIMS), is now available as the LIBRE GO! app for mobile devices. LIBRE Profile is a questionnaire that can help burn survivors and clinicians track burn recovery, improve rehabilitation efforts, and identify areas where additional support is needed. LIBRE GO!, developed in part with support from the NIDILRR-funded App Factory to Support Health and Function of People with Disabilities, empowers burn survivors and clinicians to measure social participation in the community in real time. The NIDILRR-funded Initiative to Mobilize Partnerships for successful Assistive teChnology Transfer (IMPACT) announced the 2025 IMPACT Awards https://loom.ly/CGL_qng recognizing outstanding entries in the 2025 RESNA Developer Showcase and Student Design Challenge. Trevor Dyson-Hudson, MD, principal investigator for the NIDILRR-funded Northern New Jersey Spinal Cord Injury System Center, received the James J. Peters Distinguished Service Award https://loom.ly/QpjoT6Y from ASCIP. The award recognizes individuals with outstanding accomplishments in SCI healthcare and who have contributed significantly to national activities related to SCI healthcare. Dr. Tyson-Hudson's research focuses on preserving and restoring function and mobility in people with SCI and addressing secondary medical complications common in this population.

The NIDILRR-funded Midwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury Care System Center and the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC) released Amber "My Escape from PTSD" https://loom.ly/Q8kf6xU the latest episode in the I Was a Wheelchair Kid podcast series. In the episode, Amber tells the story of her spinal cord injury at 15, returning to home and friends after rehabilitation, and going to college where she felt welcomed as a wheelchair user. She also discusses experiences with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and how treatment helped her heal and build a happy family life. The podcast is produced in collaboration with Facing Disability and is available on several platforms.

The NIDILRR-funded project Barriers to Inclusion: Quantifying Disability-Related Out-of-Pocket Costs and Unmet Needs for People with Disabilities published new findings on the extra cost of living with a disability in an article, The disability squeeze: Out-of-pocket expenses and unmet needs for disability-related goods and services in the U.S. https://loom.ly/ux7oiLk Results from a nationally representative survey found that, on average, people with disabilities spend, on average, about 20% of their household income on disability-related expenses, and more than 2/3 of the survey responders reported going without goods and services they need to fully participate in the community.
