High-definition volumetric imaging changes how cases are understood, explained, and communicated.

When clarity improves, confidence follows.

This week, we shared HDVI CT images from an oral surgery case of a canine patient who suffered from a molar abscess.

Now, hear about Vimago™ and HDVI from the words of a clinician.

CT training comes in many forms. Even rotisserie-ready. 🍗

From understanding basic positioning to preparing for more advanced studies, hands-on practice plays a key role in getting comfortable with advanced imaging workflows using Vimago™.

Thanks to Russian River Veterinary Surgical Service for sharing a look at their CT training process, and to Jaclyn from our IVAS team for bringing hands-on learning and a little fun to training day.

Hear from Annelise Strunk, DVM, DABVP from the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine in Bothell, Washington.

In this testimonial clip, Dr. Strunk shares how HDVI CT imaging supports her team’s approach to dentistry and complex anatomy across species.

This perspective aligns with recent coverage in Veterinary Practice News, which highlighted the application of HDVI imaging not only in small animal dentistry, but also in exotic patients.

Meet Farkle, a canine patient scanned using high-definition volumetric imaging.

HDVI acquires the patient’s full density as a complete volumetric dataset, allowing anatomy to be reviewed in both 2D and 3D from a single scan. This approach supports detailed visualization of anatomical structures across multiple planes.

As discussed in a recent Veterinary Practice News article. HDVI is gaining attention in veterinary medicine for how volumetric imaging data can be rendered, explored, and reviewed within efficient clinical workflows.

This scan of Farkle demonstrates how HDVI imaging can be viewed from multiple perspectives using the same dataset.

What is HDVI and why is it being discussed more in veterinary imaging?

In a recent article published in the December 2025 issue of Veterinary Practice News (page 24), high-definition volumetric imaging, or HDVI, was highlighted as a factor contributing to the growing presence of CT scanners in veterinary clinics.

HDVI is a CT imaging modality that captures the animal’s full density as a complete volumetric dataset, rather than constructing images by stacking individual slices.

This approach supports 2D and 3D visualization from a single dataset and allows spatial resolution down to 100 microns while maintaining safe radiation levels.

HDVI describes how imaging data is acquired and reconstructed, and why volumetric imaging is becoming increasingly relevant across veterinary diagnostic workflows.
