Four parent advocates visited the Woods Primary and Behavioral Health Center in Hamilton to tour the facility, learn what they offer for medical and behavioral health, and to hear about their future plans. Parents are very interested in this hub in Hamilton and their sister facility, Woods Services just over the river in Pennsylvania. Here is the complete rundown. The Woods Primary and Behavioral Health Center at Hamilton, NJ, is the first integrated clinic in New Jersey for individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This center offers a comprehensive range of services, including primary care, behavioral health evaluations, chronic disease management, therapy, and access to specialists within the RWJBarnabas Health network.
The center aims to support patients transitioning from pediatric to adult care and reduce pressure on local emergency departments by providing coordinated care.
The Woods blends Clinical Expertise and Compassionate Care specific to the needs of the disability community.
Every person with autism has unique strengths, needs, and goals. Throughout the Woods System of Care’s comprehensive network, providers embrace an individualized approach, so clients have the support they need to fulfill their highest potential. From early intervention to senior living, medical care to dental services, we’re here for life.

Serve:
-Ages 6 and up. All disabilities and medically complex high need individuals.
Insurance:
-Takes all private Insurance
-Medicaid- currently takes- Horizon, Wellpoint and straight Medicaid Starting mid March Atena & United Medicaid
Environment:
6 exam rooms, beautiful quite space created with the disability community in mind. -Including separate waiting areas for adults and children, quiet, lights that dim, wheelchair accessible, all furniture conducive to easy lifting and moving.
-Emergency buttons in each room spaced out appointments to reduce/eliminate waiting time. All staff are Ukeru trained as well as classroom and on the job training with the needs of the disability community.
Continuum of care:
-Space is located on the grounds of RWJ University Hospital in Hamilton. All staff at the hospital trained by the woods through a class on how to best work with the disability community (CEU provided) The primary care physician has hospital privileges and will follow care in the hospital if patients get admitted on site.
