SO, WHO IS A DIETITIAN? LET'S FIND OUT 👩‍🏫

A dietitian is a licensed specialist who helps people improve their health through everyday diet using an evidence-based approach.

Usually, during assessments and follow-ups, a dietitian performs the following:

✅ Collects medical information about a patient that could be related to the patient's diet and lifestyle, including medical history, medical team, medications and supplements, vitals, weight history, social history, and health goals.
✅ Analyzes patients' dietary habits to develop an individualized diet plan that meets their nutrition needs.
✅ Educates patients on healthy eating behaviors, including food choices, cooking, grocery shopping, label reading, and menu planning.
✅ Answers patients' nutrition questions and supports achieving their health goals.
✅ Other commonly reviewed and discussed areas include physical activity, sleep, and stress management.

Dietitians play an essential role in improving overall health. They help people make informed choices about healthy foods, which can reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
