It breaks my heart to announce that after 3.75 years WI DRIVE is going out of business.

I did the best I could but I just can’t do it alone anymore.

I never could have made this service available without help from so many of you. Thank you for believing in my vision to help our elderly and disabled community members get to where they needed to go.

I will continue to transport those who are already scheduled through February.

I’m so grateful for the support of this community. I will do everything I can to find a way to make sure there is still wheelchair capable transportation to serve the Island.

When you travel,
A new silence
Goes with you,
And if you listen,
You will hear
What your heart would
Love to say.

A journey can become a sacred thing.

Make sure, before you go,
To bless your going forth,
To free your heart of ballast
So that the compass of your soul
Might direct you towards
The territories of spirit
Where you will discover
More of your hidden life;
And the urgencies
That deserve to claim you.

Heather Mayhugh and her passengers are concerned not enough was done for people with disabilities at the newly-renovated ferry terminal.

Today we celebrate 2 years since I rented a van and started WI DRIVE.
It has been a long, interesting and productive 2 years. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this endeavor. I am proud of the work we have done together as a community.
We help our elderly and disabled community members get where they need to go.

Have you recently been in the Mukilteo Ferry terminal line had the urge to go and had to walk the long distance to the bathrooms? It is quite a distance but at least we now have a restroom instead of Porta Potties.
Well now imagine having to go and being disabled and in a wheelchair.
BUT OH WAIT, you cannot open the ramp to go use the ADA compliant restrooms that have been provided for you because you are trapped in a line and the cars are too close together.
BUT OH WAIT. If there was a lane designated for wheelchair capable vehicles then YOU would be able to use the restroom while waiting for the next ferry just like everyone else.
Our disabled community members by law need to have access to the ADA compliant restrooms just like everyone else.

Coming from experience you or a family member could end up disabled over night. Please be aware and think of those who are disabled and deserve the same rights as you.
