Balancing the Throat Chakra-Vishuddha 💙
The 5th Chakra is located at the base of the throat near the larynx. The energy element governed by this
chakra is effective communication. It also represents inspiration and
expression. Vishuddha Chakra establishes a strong connection to both verbal and body language.
The Throat Chakra is associated with the color bright blue. Blue energy is
pure, soothing, calming, and healing.
The element of space defines the Throat Chakra. Emotions can only expand when there are space and
freedom.
The seed mantra of Vishuddha Chakra is HAM. The sound vibrations when chanting this mantra have been know to heal throat issues.
Blue is the color of communication, providing us with the power of speaking the truth. Blue is also at the cooler end of the spectrum of colors.
Blue allows the body and mind to experience stillness. It represents a
pure mind that is uncluttered from any
negative thought.
Practicing postures/asanas that both open and close the throat can empower this chakra, bringing it into
balance. Gentle neck rolls/stretches, poses that strengthen the shoulders,
such as Dolphin Pose, Forearm Stand
(Pincha Mayurasana), Eagle Pose (Garudasana) variations, Shoulder
stand (Sarvangasana), Plow Pose (Halasana) and Deaf Man Pose (Karnipadasana) can all benefit the throat chakra.
Supported Bridge pose is an excellent Yin option.
The symbol is the lotus with 16 petals.
Each petal hosts a Vritti, symbolizing the characteristics that one must overcome to become pure in communication and truth.

Balancing the Heart Chakra-Anahata 💚
The fourth chakra, known as the bridge between the lower three (physical) and higher three (spiritual) chakras.
In Sanskrit, Anahata means “unstuck”. This chakra serves as our center of love for oneself and others, compassion, empathy and forgiveness. The anahata chakra is associated with unconditional love, compassion, and joy. It is the source of deep and profound truths that cannot be expressed in words.
Practicing heart opening poses like Warrior I (Virabhadrasana) with cactus arms drawn back, interlacing the fingers behind the back and lifting the heart, bowing in Humble Warrior and pressing away and drawing in the “space”(element associated with the heart chakra) in Warrior II can assist in the empowerment of this chakra. Also opening the heart in Camel Pose (Ustrasana), either both arms back, one or both hands at heart.
When the heart chakra is in healthy alignment you will feel surrounded by love, compassion, and joy and feel connected to the world around you. You will feel open to all experiences in life, and it will feel like challenges, especially in relationships, flow through you and are resolved with ease. An open heart chakra allows us to see all of the beauty and love around us, and truly connect to ourselves, our loved ones, and the natural world. This chakra also helps direct love back to ourselves to truly be able to love and accept ourselves and our bodies.
The symbol for Anahata is a green 12-petaled lotus.

Balancing the Solar Plexis Chakra: Manipura
This chakra is where your power and self-confidence manifests.
“Manipura” means a lustrous gem. The jewel or qualities associated with this chakra strengthen the digestive system and diaphragm. The Solar Plexus focuses on the power and autonomy of metabolism. The element for the Solar Plexus is fire. Activating the fire within moderate body temperature helps in food digestion. It represents the color yellow that brings brightness and balance of energy.
Practicing twists in Chair pose “Utkatasana”, low lunge or forward fold help to ignite the fire within.
The Manipura symbol is a ten petaled lotus.

Balancing the Sacral Chakra: Svadhisthana
Practice Skandasana- the extending and stretching of the leg releases the hips lower, stretching the inner thighs and groin deeper.
Practice Rainbow Warrior:
This Asana is great for unwinding tension from the shoulders & hips while building core strength.
Knee to nose builds core strength and helps bring awareness and focus to the Sacral Chakra located in the pelvis, just below the navel.
Opening this chakra can boost creativity, manifested desire and confidence. This chakra is associated with sensuality and creativity. The primary function of this energy center is pleasure and overall enjoyment of life. When this chakra is balanced and functioning properly, we can expect our relationship with ourselves and the world to feel harmonious, pleasureful, and nurturing.
The symbol of the sacral chakra is orange with six petals surrounding the center.

Balancing the Root Chakra: Muladhara
Located at the base of the spine, the pelvic floor, and the first three vertebrae, the root chakra is responsible for your sense of safety and security on this earthly journey. The word Muladhara breaks down into two Sanskrit words: Mula meaning “root” and Adhara, which means “support” or “base.”
Practice Garland Pose “Malasana”. This pose Is an excellent facilitator of pelvic floor health, it stretches the ankles, groins, and back while stimulating proper digestion. Don’t worry if your heels don't reach the floor, simply rest them on a folded blanket. Add the “Shakti” mudra anytime you need to detach from daily life, anchor yourself, and plug in to your untamable feminine power.
Practice Tree Pose “Vrksasana” This Asana teaches you to simultaneously press down and feel rooted as you reach tall like the branches of a mighty tree.
The symbol is the 4-petal lotus.

The “JourneyThrough the Chakras” retreat was indeed a special and beautiful experience!
Thirteen amazing souls joined Laina Florio and I for 6 days and 6 nights at the Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja. Through daily yoga, meditation, workshops based on soul consciousness linked with the energetic qualities of the Chakras, nourishing meals, nature immersion, clean air, salt water, sunshine, love and lots of laughter…we experienced what rising into soul consciousness means.
We have all returned home, our hearts are full with wonderful memories and friendships that will last forever.

Stay tuned for upcoming retreats in 2023…retreat yourself!

This is for those who are already signed up for a retreat, or have been considering one. We know that some guests are hesitant to sign up for a variety of reasons. Perhaps they don't know what to expect, or afraid of not fitting in, or not good at yoga, etc. Yet, these are some of the many reasons why a retreat might be perfect for you - learning to let go of self-judgment, anxiety and moving through the obstacles that are in the way of living into the highest version of yourself.

We will be talking about retreats in general, including upcoming retreats, and will have plenty of time for Q&A.
If you can’t make it, we can send you a recording of the call, just let us know!And... there are only 2 spots left for the upcoming Mexico Retreat.
