This is the secret hamstring stretch I’m teaching Kenyan physios + licensed massage therapists — and the secret isn’t the stretch…

It’s traction for the ENTIRE stretch. 🔥

Most people think hamstrings are “tight,” so they just pull harder.
But if you’re not maintaining traction the whole time — and your hand placement isn’t exact — you won’t actually access the hamstring. You’ll just tug on joints, nerves, and everything around it.

Traction is what helps you capture the true length of the hamstring… and tap into that whole posterior line (calf → hamstring → glute → low back).
That’s why two practitioners can do the “same” stretch and get completely different results.

Today we got into one of the most misunderstood bodies to stretch: hypermobile bodies.

Hypermobility doesn’t mean “they’re loose.”
It means they have a bigger end range… and they STILL feel tight.

And if you come in treating them like a “tight” body?
You can overstretch them, irritate joints, and make the whole system feel worse.

This is the real work:
Stretching isn’t just moving limbs.
It’s listening.
It’s reading what the muscles + joints are saying.
It’s being in tune with the person in front of you.

If you’re a massage therapist, physio, trainer, chiro, bodyworker… this is your reminder:
Technique matters. But presence matters more.

Just finished working on a young brother who’s been showing us venues for what’s next — because Stretch Loft Academy is coming to the mainland. Not just as a class… as a movement. As a return. As a reminder that healing is real, and it’s for us.

🧞♂️✨ In this clip, you’re listening to the body respond in real time as Vanessa works with a female client dealing with lower back tightness and restriction. That release you hear in the breathing isn’t accidental — it’s the result of applying the stretch the right way, at the right depth, and at the right moment. Vanessa is using different stretch approaches to support the lower back, while constantly cueing the client to breathe so the body can soften and let go. When the breath changes, the tissue changes.
