🍎✏️ Here are some back-to-school dental tips to keep their smiles bright and healthy:
🪥 Replace your child’s toothbrush every three months or after any illness. Choose a toothbrush with soft bristles and an appropriate size for your child’s age
🍓 Ensure you have fluoride toothpaste that your child likes. Consider a fun flavor to make brushing more enjoyable
⏰ Create a routine that includes brushing twice a day for two minutes and flossing once a day
🌟 Implement a reward chart to encourage and track your child’s brushing and flossing habits
🥦 Include fruits, vegetables, cheese, and yogurt in your child’s lunchbox. Avoid sugary snacks and drinks that can lead to cavities
💧 Encourage drinking water throughout the day. Water helps wash away food particles and keeps the mouth hydrated
⚽ If your child participates in sports, invest in a custom-fitted mouthguard to protect their teeth from injuries
🏅 Make sure they wear the mouthguard during all practices and games

Don't let the name intimidate you! A frenulectomy is a common and simple procedure to address issues related to the frenulum, often necessary for children and sometimes adults
🔍 What is a Frenulum?
The frenulum is a small piece of tissue connecting your tongue, cheeks, and lips to your gums. The most common frenums needing attention are:
◾ Lingual Frenum: Connects your tongue to the floor of your mouth
◾ Maxillary Labial Frenum: Attaches your gums and upper lip above your front teeth
Children can experience issues when their frenums are too large and prevent them from freely moving their tongue. This interference with speech is what is commonly referred to as being “tongue-tied"
A frenulectomy may be necessary for an adult who has an oversized frenulum, which can result in a wide variety of common problems, including the following:

What is the process for Invisalign for adults? 🤔
During your initial evaluation, Dr. Tracey Nguyen or Dr. Steven Frames will thoroughly examine your smile to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign 🔍 If so, they will create a digital treatment plan using our iTero scanner. Your custom aligners will then be made in a lab, a process that takes a few weeks. Depending on your case, you may need a single aligner or a full set for more severe issues
Once ready, you will start the Invisalign treatment, wearing your aligners for 20-22 hours daily, removing them only to eat or clean 🧼 Aligners are typically replaced every one or two weeks to gradually shift your teeth into alignment. Regular checkups are necessary to monitor progress and adjust the treatment plan if needed 📝
