We had a "shell" of a time today at our latest Taste of RUI event! Our Inspiritás-Memory Care residents dove headfirst into the world of coastal cuisine as we explored all things Fresh, Light, and Local. 🌊

The star of the show? Blue Crab Ceviche! 🥗✨

Our amazing team, Chef Michael and Executive Director Angela, teamed up to give a hands-on masterclass. From the fine art of shucking crabs to the perfect citrus zest, our residents saw exactly what goes into making this refreshing summer staple. 👨‍🍳👩‍💼

It wasn't just a cooking demo—it was a sensory experience full of bright flavors, great conversation, and maybe a little bit of competitive shucking! 😉

The Lunar New Year came roaring to life at the Ashleigh at Lansdowne! 🦁🥁 We were thrilled to host Kung Fu DC for a traditional Lion Dance performance. The energy was contagious as the lion pranced around our dining room, bringing good fortune and big smiles to our residents and guests. Alongside incredible cultural flavors from Taste of RUI and a Wishing Tree to plant our hopes for the year, it was a cultural experience that left us all in awe and ready to embrace the year with renewed spirit! 🎭🏮

Mardi Gras was in full swing! Our incredible Taste of RUI culinary team truly stole the show, bringing the vibrant flavors and spirit of New Orleans right here to Northern Virginia. Our Inspiritás-Memory Care residents were thrilled to welcome a very special visitor from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs! 🐾

Archie brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of tail wags as he made his way around visiting with residents. His gentle spirit and happy demeanor truly brightened everyone’s day, creating sweet moments of connection and joy. We are so grateful for this wonderful visit and look forward to many more tail-wagging afternoons with Archie! 🐶💙

Love was truly in the air at the Ashleigh at Lansdowne as we celebrated Valentine’s Day in the sweetest way! 💕 Our residents enjoyed an amazing meal prepared by Taste of RUI, surrounded by family, friends, and the warmth of community. Beautiful roses were shared with all of the wonderful women, adding an extra touch of elegance to the day.
We were also blessed to receive heartfelt cards from Valentines by Kids for each of our residents — thoughtful messages that brought smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears. It was a day filled with joy, connection, and lots of love! 🌹💌

What an incredible day of exploration! ✈️🌌

Today our residents enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Air and Space Museum, where they were treated to a variety of fascinating exhibits showcasing the history of aviation and space exploration. From historic aircraft to inspiring space artifacts, there was so much to see and learn. A highlight of the visit was the breathtaking documentary Deep Sky, which beautifully captured the wonders of our universe and left everyone in awe.

It was a day filled with discovery, conversation, and shared excitement as we explored the skies—both past and present—together! 🚀✨

Family Night at the Ashleigh at Lansdowne 💙

We were honored to partner with the Insight Memory Care Center to host a special Memory Care Café for our Inspiritás residents and their families. It was a beautiful evening filled with connection, conversation, and shared moments that truly matter. 🫶

Events like these remind us how important community, support, and togetherness are on the memory care journey. Families and residents had the chance to interact, learn, and simply enjoy being present with one another.

And of course, a few refreshments made the night even sweeter. ☕🍪

Our annual Casino Night was a big hit! 🎲✨

A special thank you to Vegas Time Associates, Inc. for setting up our casino floor, explaining the games, and helping residents learn the rules as they played to win raffle tickets for wonderful prizes. 🃏🎟️

After an exciting afternoon on the casino floor, residents enjoyed an elegant dinner prepared by our talented Taste of RUI Chef, making the evening a perfect blend of fun and fine dining. 🍽️🌟
