What is it?
The reason for adhesive capsulitis is relatively unknown. In summary, it is an inflammatory response that is associated with fibrosis and contractures of the shoulder capsule, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. It is characterized by a gradual and progressive onset of shoulder pain and loss of active and passive shoulder motion. Frozen shoulder goes through 4 stages that takes about 15-24 months in its entirety.
What does treatment look like?
Conservative treatment of frozen shoulder is shown to be successful in up to 90% of patients. Treatment will depend on the stage you are in. PT management will consist of pain relief, improving range of motion back to normal, and improving strength when pain and range begin to improve.

Treadmill training can improve balance performance, walking speed, and postural control. This includes multidirectional treadmill walking and mutli- tasking. Integrating a thinking task with walking can facilitate improved learning. The treadmill can be used as a great way to challenge your dynamic stability to improve balance and gait performance. The video below shows one of our friends at FYZICAL demonstrating different tasks on the treadmill that can be performed to build balance confidence!

Vestibular rehab is designed to reduce vertigo and dizziness, reduce gaze instability, and reduce imbalance and fall risk that can be associated.
We have three major sensory systems: Vision (how we see where we are), Somatosensory (how we feel where we are), and our Vestibular (which reacts to motion). At FYZICAL, we use vestibular rehab and a comprehensive exam to customize exercises to you, depending on the vestibular-related problem.
