Throwback Thursday: my first Whole30

Not only did I see these amazing physical changes, my skin was clearer, my mind was clearer, I was more motivated, and I could fall asleep for the first time in years without medication.

I learned how to cook, started meal prepping, and lost all the anxiety that I had around food.

Six years later, I decided to get my degree in nutrition to further jump down the rabbit hole of health and wellness. I’ve shared this experience with countless people and helped them change their own lives with their relationship with food.

The other day I posted what I ate in a day on my stories.

My daily diet consists usually of 4 meals coming in at around a pound of food each, and a few snacks during the day. This supports both my need for my body to function properly and breastfeed my 4 month old but also continue to loose weight at a manageable and healthy rate postpartum.

Most people have no clue about how much they should be eating. They end up not being able to get quality sleep, feel sluggish during the day, and plateauing in their workouts or other areas of their life.

Do you fuel your body properly or do you feel like your constantly falling short?

Food is fuel. Start treating it as such.

📢📢YOU DON’T NEED TO EARN YOUR DINNER📢📢

Just because you’re going out for a fancy dinner tonight doesn’t mean you need to starve yourself all day.

It’s not a thing. Stop trying to make it a thing.

A serving of that delicious truffle Mac and cheese isn’t going to do as much damage as not eating all day and continuing to perpetuate a bad relationship with food.

Repeat after me: I do not need to earn any of the food I choose to eat.

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life friend. Enjoy your dinner. And dessert.

There are no ‘bad’ or ‘good’ foods.

Just what foods work for you. Maybe gluten makes you feel crummy right after you eat it and your glued to the couch for the rest of the night. Maybe cheese in moderate amounts doesn’t make you feel any kind of way at all.

The best thing you can do is figure out what foods make you feel your best and which ones don’t so that you can make informed decisions on what you put in your mouth.

It’s called Food Freedom.

You can find yours by doing a Whole30.

ITS THURSDAY. Do you know what you’re prepping this weekend?

Now is the time to start figuring out.

Take a look at what’s on sale, I usually plan my meals by what proteins will give me the most bang for my buck and then go from there.

Make a list of all the ingredients you need plus some healthy snacks to get you through the day. Better yet, put in a grocery order to pick up!

And here’s the secret to my magic: grab some disposable aluminum trays.

Literally all of my clients say that the thing they hate the most about cooking is the clean up. Don’t do it. You can stop complaining now (MAGIC).

Made these delicious balsamic pomegranate braised short ribs the other day.

Not telling you what to do but maybe you should save this recipe for later 💁🏻‍♀️

Here’s what you do:

Sprinkle some delicious looking short ribs with some coarse sea salt (generously of course). Melt some butter in a big stock pot. Sear each side of the ribs. Add in: 1 Tbs minced garlic, 1 c balsamic vinegar, 1/2 c pomegranate juice, 1 carton beef broth. Let it cook on low all afternoon. Take the ribs out and cook the juices down even more to make a gravy. The key here is to continually stir over medium heat until the sauce thickens up but not too much so that it separates. It’s an art really, it takes a lot of practice and now is the time young grasshopper. Serve with some fresh pomegranate arils and mashed potatoes. YUM.
