This is my spine surgeon teaching a yoga pose. 🙌

As many have noticed, I've been quiet here. After nearly three years of therapies for post-concussion issues and pain after fainting and hitting my head in 2022, I recently learned that my lingering symptoms are actually from my severely injured neck from the fall.

In 11 days, I'll have major cervical spine surgery to (ideally 🙏) replace three discs. Super grateful to have found Dr. Ehsan Jazini. In addition to his skillfulness and expertise, he's been incredibly compassionate and kind, plus he LOVES yoga. ☺️

This injury has kept me from so much that I love, including my work. I'm hopeful and looking forward to being able to return to more life and work after recovery.

Working on my new website and offerings. 🥰

For now, love each other. Speak truth. Let go. Notice the beauty all around in the here and now (a smile, a cloud, a tree, a bird, your own body and breath).

Remember we're more powerful to embody and ripple peace and good (and change) than anyone's likely ever affirmed.

As my daughter reminds me still, I am you and you are me. We "interare" (Thich Nhat Hahn).

Our individual choices matter. Our connection matters. And, together we give rise to heartfulness that will ripple long after we're gone. ((( ❤ )))

Our very first yoga for trauma case study with a former Marine scout sniper reflecting several statistically significant positive outcomes, including the more than doubling of working memory capacity and the disappearance of PTSD symptomology. Follow-up testing showed the results were holding. I've learned so much more since then!

Yoga helped Logan Stark, an MSU senior and former Marine scout sniper, recover from PTSD and also improved his brain function, according to a first-of-its-kind study led by psychology researcher Jason Moser.

I have a lot of dreams, one is that all beings discover the power of their own as a for moving through challenges and creating a life of greater ease, equanimity, and better overall wellbeing (mental and physical health). Creating breath as a resource is not as easy as it sounds. Teaching trauma-adapted is one of my joys, but here's another way to practice deepening the breath to great benefit. Makes good sense.

Visualizing breathing patterns can improve interoceptive awareness and mental well-being.

Let's remember who we are—a mind, body, and heart that’s connected to more than what we see with our eyes or hear with our ears. We are a part of the vast limitless love of the universe. We hold the power to heal ourselves, to choose, to move through challenging times learning to modulate panic and fear as it arises, and we hold the power to help each other heal, one breath, one step at a time together—a smile offered, a breath shared, a few moments of deep listening and true presence, an invitation for a call, a walk, or tea, kind words expressed, a compassionate wish or prayer. We hold the power. We also need each other. ((( 🤍 )))

I remembered this former private student's artwork from 2019 when I awoke this morning (purchased and shared with permission). Beautiful. Hopeful. Timely. 🌙✨⭐️

Happy and honored for the opportunity to contribute trauma adapted breathwork practices for the FREE online groundbreaking the Midwest Broken Mirror Project workbook! Check it out: https://www.creativeembersnonprofit.org/workbook

The Midwest Broken Mirror Project is a photo/video series of body image stories. The series explores how our culture, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, trauma, and abilities affect how we feel about bodies, our own, and others. Our mission is to connect and inspire people to share their experiences and feel empowered by our collective differences — to “see bodies differently.” We envision a world where the identities our bodies hold are no longer seen through a lens of systemic oppression, and we are all visible and able to thrive within our skin.

A challenge and triumph, personally, and such a collectively heart-centered and transformative event. A huge honor to MC the evening—a first public emerging from grief and mTBI cocoon. I had a lot of big feelings as usual. 🥹 Drs. Harbeen and Adriana also had the opportunity to hold private meetings at the Capitol sowing inspiring and meaningful seeds of change. Dr. Harbeen has touched the hearts and lives of 4 million women in more than 120 countries. 🌹
