The tragedy in Delta Township involving Alexandar Lamar Banks is heartbreaking. A family was forever changed, and a 3-year-old child lost their life. My heart is with everyone impacted.
While we don’t know the circumstances surrounding this case, moments like this often raise questions about mental health, especially when behaviors appear extreme or disconnected from reality. Families do not have to navigate concerns about psychosis or serious mental illness alone. Early support, education, and connection to services can make a critical difference.
At the same time, we must be careful not to speculate or assume causes before facts are known. Tragedies like this remind us how important it is to strengthen access to mental health care, crisis response, and family education in our communities.
