If you’ve boarded the car ferry at the Lansing Marina recently, you may have noticed a new setup! 🚗⛴️
We’ve added concrete barriers to help make parking more organized as we prepare for the busy marina season. Our goal is to keep things running smoothly while minimizing disruption for marina and Tiki Bar visitors.
✅ Additional signage will be installed next week to guide ferry users.
📌 Please check out the attached graphic for a visual guide on how to park while waiting for the ferry.

🚢 Lansing Ferry Hours & Travel Info

While bridge changes are underway, Lansing remains open and connected thanks to the car ferry!

🕒 Ferry Hours
✔️ Operating 7 days a week
✔️ First trip: 5:30 AM from Wisconsin | 5:45 AM from Iowa
✔️ Last trip: 9:00 PM from Wisconsin | 9:15 PM from Iowa
✔️ Runs continuously (first-come, first-served — no fixed schedule)

🚗 Commuter Priority
To support daily commuters, priority access is requested during peak hours:
• 5:30–7:30 AM
• 3:30–5:30 PM
Non-commuters are encouraged to travel outside these times when possible.

🎄 Holiday Schedule
On Iowa DOT–observed holidays, the ferry operates 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, including:
New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day & the Day After, and Christmas Day.

News release about the Iowa 9 / WIS 82 Mississippi River Bridge Demolition that was Moved to Dec. 19 with Safety Plans Announced.

📢 Mississippi River Bridge Demolition Announced – Friday, December 5, 2025 📢

🚧 We have important new information to share about the demolition of the Mississippi River Bridge. A planned implosion and removal of the main section of the existing bridge is scheduled, weather permitting, for Thursday, December 18.

💥The demolition is planned for approximately 9:30 a.m., followed by removal of the debris from the Mississippi River.

🚢 The car ferry service will be suspended, with the last service offered on the evening of Wednesday, December 17, and resumed on the morning of Sunday, December 21.

👷 We know this project impacts all of you, and we’ve taken steps to ensure your safety, traffic flow, and other mitigation efforts. As of November 3, 2025, the Cassville Car Ferry is located in Lansing, Iowa, on the Wisconsin side of the river.

𝙎𝙝𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙤𝙬𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜.

• 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 when driving onto the ferry and follow the deckhands’ directions.
• At night, 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 while on the ferry.
• The ferry can hold approximately 𝟭𝟮 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀, depending on size and weight.
• Be sure not to 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀, as they must be closed for each trip.

The Mississippi River car ferry officially starts service this Monday, November 3rd! 🙌

This new connection is a huge win for our community and visitors during the bridge construction — helping everyone stay connected across the river.

LANSING BRIDGE TO CLOSE OCTOBER 15, 2025 - A few news sources are reporting via Iowa DOT Highway Division Administrator Tony Gustafson that a date is set for closing the Black Hawk Bridge this fall. “When the bridge is closed on October 15th, they’ll begin demolition immediately on the existing bridge — removing the deck panels manually, but also using dynamite to demo the bridge,” he says. In the meantime, work is continuing that caused the old bridge to move (at its underwater foundation) in the past, he said. He told the Iowa Transportation Commission they have an updated schedule for opening the NEW bridge, trying to open it to one-lane traffic in March of 2027. The steel truss members of the bridge need to be painted twice with a special paint. One lane of traffic will be open while they paint the other side, and then switch the open traffic lane to paint the other side.
CASSVILLE CAR FERRY RUMORED TO BE USED AFTER FALL BRIDGE CLOSING - If that ferry service for crossing the Mississippi River between Lansing and Wisconsin is put into use, a couple things to consider: It may be an "on-demand service" where the ferry operates on a push-button system, meaning it departs when signaled at either landing. Also, the ferry will have limited capacity. The deck can reportedly hold less than a dozen cars at a time.
