Through our Independent Living Skills program, we help individuals gain the skills and resources they need to thrive, whether that’s preparing for employment, navigating daily life, or connecting with peers through community activities.

From vocational training to community-based recreation, we’re here to support every step toward independence and empowerment.

Because we know that independence may look different for everyone — but the power to make your own choices is universal.

Starting a new school year can feel overwhelming... But new school year = new opportunities to advocate for what you need!

Here are quick tips to keep in mind:
✓ Walk through your class schedule and locate accessible bathrooms, elevators, quiet spaces
✓ Test assistive technology with school IT department
✓ Create a "one-page profile" about your communication style and needs, triggers to watch for, and contact preferences
✓ Introduce yourself to the school nurse and share emergency plans
✓ Connect with disability services coordinator
✓ Identify a trusted adult you can check in with daily

From your family here at DNCAP, we hope that you enjoy this new adventure and remember, you've got this!

A traumatic brain injury changes life in more ways that we can imagine and we understand that sometimes, only those who’ve been through it can truly understand.

If you or someone you love is navigating life after a traumatic brain injury, we invite you to join our Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group. Every Monday all throughout September, from 6–7 PM. We gather to share stories, offer encouragement, and remind one another that resilience grows stronger together.

Head to our events calendar to RSVP or to learn more about the location and details: https://www.dncap.org/events-calendar/ You don’t have to walk this path alone 💙
