Every new chapter in life comes with change. And change, while powerful, can be tough to navigate.

You might be moving from high school into adulthood, leaving a nursing facility to return to community life, or adjusting to a new disability; whatever it is, we offer Transition Services that are designed to guide, support, and empower you to take the next step toward independence.

We believe transitions aren’t just about what you leave behind, but about what’s possible ahead 💙

May you find the time to educate, advocate, and stand with individuals whose challenges may not always be visible, but are very real.

Caregivers give so much of themselves every single day. But as holiday demands rise, it’s easy to forget that your needs are just as important. Autumn invites us to slow down, breathe, and nurture ourselves.

Here are some tips to keep in mind:
🍁 Take a Walk in Nature
The crisp fall air and changing leaves can be grounding. Even 10 minutes outdoors can lower stress.
🍁 Practice the “5-Minute Pause”
When life feels overwhelming, step aside for 5 minutes of breathing, stretching, or quiet. It resets your energy.
🍁 Lean on Your Support Network
Join our groups like Parent Power and caregiver support circles, sharing your story lightens the load.

Let’s navigate the busy months ahead — side by side.

Check out all the ways you can get involved this October: https://www.dncap.org/events-calendar/2025-10/

This World Mental Health Day, we reflect on the power of compassion, listening, and creating safe spaces for all, especially for people with disabilities who often face added barriers.

At Disability Network Capital Area, we believe that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. Together, we can break the stigma and create spaces where everyone feels supported, seen, and valued 💙

Today is World Sight Day 💙 A reminder that vision health is a vital part of overall well-being. For many, sight is something often taken for granted, but for those living with vision impairments, every day brings unique challenges and opportunities to adapt, grow, and thrive.

Every step toward awareness and advocacy makes a difference. Let’s keep working together to ensure that people with vision impairments have the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to live life to the fullest.

Together, we can make inclusion part of everyone’s vision.
