Mother’s Day can stir many emotions and memories.

This weekend, we honor all who carry the heart of motherhood: mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, chosen family, caregivers, those grieving a mother, mothers grieving a child, those longing to become mothers, and anyone finding this weekend especially difficult.

The love of a mother or mother figure often stays with us in quiet, lasting ways.

From all of us at our Tiffany Chapel, we are thinking of you and holding space for every kind of Mother’s Day journey.

Some people have a gift for helping others feel cared for, seen, and supported, even during life’s hardest moments. Nurses do this every single day.

Today, we proudly recognize the nurses throughout our Lansing community whose compassion and dedication make such a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Thank you for the care, comfort, and humanity you bring to your work.

Happy National Nurses Day.

We hold each of these families in our thoughts as they navigate the days ahead.

Today is the first day of Mental Health Awareness Month. This month is a reminder to check in with both yourself, AND with those around you.

A conversation, a moment of rest, or simply being present can make a difference.

A glimpse into 1967.

This small advertisement features an early illustration of what is now our Tiffany Chapel - a space that has served families in our community for generations.

While much has changed over the years, the heart behind the work remains the same: a commitment to personal, thoughtful care for every family we serve.

It’s a privilege to continue that legacy today.

This week, we remember Norine Van Drie, Roger Glen Toebe, Christopher Lee Fleischer, Lori Lee Martenies, Donald Richard Card, John “Jack” David Beyerhelm, Janet DeRose Litrenta, and Pravinbhai Hirabhai Patel.

Losing a spouse or life partner is a profound and life-changing loss.

In the early days, it can be difficult to know how to help someone who is grieving. You may want to offer something meaningful, while also being mindful not to overwhelm them.

Often, the most thoughtful gestures are simple and practical. A meal, help around the home, or a grocery delivery can ease some of the day-to-day burdens during an already heavy time.

Other gentle ways to show support might include:
• A journal and pen, offering space to process thoughts and emotions
• A candle or flowers, sent at a later time as a quiet reminder they are not alone
• Remembering important dates, such as anniversaries or holidays, when grief can feel especially present

Above all, your continued presence matters most. Checking in, offering a listening ear, and simply showing up can bring comfort in ways that words sometimes cannot.
