The Tiffany name has long been part of Lansing’s history.

For generations, families turned to Tiffany Funeral Home for guidance, care, and compassion. That tradition lives on today at the Tiffany Chapel of Gorsline-Runciman, where we continue to honor the values and community relationships built over time.

We are proud to care for this chapel, its history, and the families who have trusted it through the years.

Today we’re proud to observe National Funeral Service Professionals Appreciation Day.

We’re grateful for members of the Gorsline-Runciman team including Elizabeth Bagley, Hank Borden, Alisha Williams, Megan Wilson, Christopher Pant, Randy Shassberger, Wayne Traxler, Amanda Wallace, Charli Edelmann, Jessica Blacklock, Adrian Houston, and Desiree Willis, along with Care Center team members Nate Badish, Al Gager, and Courtney Lopez.

At our Tiffany Chapel, we are thankful for the dedication of our administrator Harry Townsley, whose work supports both our staff and the families we serve.

It truly takes an entire team to provide the care and compassion our communities deserve, and today we celebrate everyone who makes that possible.

International Women’s Day is a meaningful reminder of how much the funeral profession has evolved.

Women now represent the majority of mortuary science students in the United States and continue to grow as leaders within funeral service.

At Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, we are proud of the talented women on our team who guide families with professionalism, empathy, and expertise.

Today, we celebrate their dedication and the impact they make in our community.

Every life holds a story that continues through those who loved them. We extend our sincere sympathy to each family as they gather in remembrance, reflection, and connection. It is an honor to serve our community during these meaningful moments.

There is nothing more tender than honoring the life of a child.

For families facing unimaginable loss, many find comfort in creating a celebration that reflects their child’s unique personality, interests, and light.

That may mean dedicating a bench at a favorite playground.
Inviting friends to share memories or read a poem.
Incorporating a theme that reflects something they loved.
Or displaying artwork and creations that capture their imagination.

There is no right or wrong way to remember a child. What matters most is honoring who they were and the joy they brought into the world.

We are here to walk beside families with care, compassion, and deep respect in every step of that journey.

In December of 1961, this space first welcomed families as Jessen Funeral Home. The fireplace in the entrance lobby was described in the newspaper as “cheery”: a place where visitors could gather and feel warmth upon arrival.

More than six decades later, that same fireplace remains at the heart of what is now our Gorsline-Runciman Tiffany Chapel.

While finishes have been updated and the space thoughtfully modernized, the intention has never changed. From mid-century modern beginnings to today, this room has continued to offer comfort, conversation, and quiet moments of reflection.

On National Retro Day, we are grateful for the history built into these walls, and honored to continue serving families in a place that has been part of this community since 1961.

For many families, faith plays an important role in how they choose to celebrate a life.

Religious traditions can bring comfort, familiarity, and a deep sense of community during times of loss. Incorporating spiritual elements into a celebration of life can reflect what mattered most to your loved one.

Some meaningful ideas include:

• Saying a shared prayer or traditional blessing
• Singing or chanting together
• Lighting candles or burning incense as a symbol of remembrance
• Making a donation to a church or faith-based charity in their honor

Every service should feel personal and reflective of the life being remembered. If faith was central to your loved one’s journey, we are here to help you thoughtfully honor those traditions.

At our Tiffany Chapel, we quietly reflect this week on the lives of:

Bryan Lynn Swinford
Joseph Raymond Smith
Joseph Trevor McKee
Bill Upton
Patricia Halich Brock
Audrey Jean Myers
John Andrew Nolan
Beverly J. Granger

Each of these individuals leaves behind a lifetime of memories, relationships, and moments that shaped the people who loved them most.

It is an honor to provide a space where families can gather, remember, and share stories that keep those memories alive. We hold these families close as they come together in remembrance.

Marcia is often at our Tiffany Chapel, taking very special care of families. We couldn't do it without her! 🥰

We are deeply grateful when families share their experiences with us.

This recent review was received at our Gorsline Runciman East Lansing Chapel, and it speaks to the compassionate care Marcia provides every day.

From the very first call, Marcia responded with kindness, attentiveness, and understanding during an incredibly difficult time. Her ability to listen, guide, and walk alongside families and even offer moments of light when they’re needed most is something we are so proud of.

Marcia serves as one of our preneed counselors, but as this family so beautifully shared, she often becomes much more: a steady presence, a trusted advisor, and even a friend.

Thank you, Marcia, for the care you show our East Lansing families. And thank you to this family for trusting us during such a meaningful and emotional journey.

We are honored to serve this community.
