MPA Member Spotlight🔦: MPA President Michelle Kelly
🥼Describe your current role and what a typical day looks like for you:
I am a full-time faculty member, so I get to do a variety of different things each day. I usually teach in lab or lecture about various community pharmacy topics, participate in meetings for committees and boards that I serve on, work on research projects, and practice in our grant-funded free pharmacy or interprofessional diabetes clinic.
💡What inspired you to become a member and what keeps you engaged?
One of my professors during P1 year highly recommended that we get involved in MPA and attend the Annual Convention & Exposition. I fell in love with my MPA during my first ACE and since then have been able to become more and more involved. I have served on various committees for 10 years, the MSCP Board and MPA Executive Board. Being able to network and drive practice forward with pharmacy professionals from across the state is why I continue to be involved.
🎉What recent accomplishments or milestones are you most proud of?
Being elected as MPA's president is what I am most proud of and I am honored to have been selected by my peers to lead this great organization.
📈How has MPA supported you in your professional growth or helped you achieve these accomplishments?
I have made so many connections through MPA that have really helped me build my research and service areas. I have also met great mentors who have helped in my career growth and I continue to stay up-to-date on practice through MPA's education programs.
✍️What advice would you share with fellow pharmacists, student pharmacists, or pharmacy technicians in Michigan?
Get involved and help make a difference! You never know who you will meet at a convention, committee, or board who will help you in the future.
