Honoring Veteran Norman Hamilton

Compassus Hospice joined us in recognizing Norman Hamilton with a Veteran’s Pinning Ceremony. As a proud Marine who served in both World War II and the Korean War, Norman’s courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Thank you, Norman, for your service and dedication to our freedom.

This is Ron Prine, one of our wonderful residents. Every morning, Ron loves stopping by to see our IDT team during their daily meeting.

Today, when the door was closed, he surprised us by holding up this sign: 'We want to be at your meeting.'

Ron’s smile and sense of humor always brighten our mornings!

Staff at Nu Roc kept the sweetness going, celebrating National S’mores Day with our portable electric “campfire.”

Fun fact: the first s’mores recipe appeared in the 1927 Girl Scout Handbook as “some mores,” later shortened to the name we all know and love!

Drills don’t have to be dull, and ours never are!

Every month, our Director of Nursing, Necia, and our Maintenance Director, Bob, get creative with emergency preparedness to ensure our team is ready for anything. From hiding “residents” in closets and supply rooms for elopement drills to simulating real-life emergencies like a sudden medical event in therapy, these realistic scenarios help our staff stay sharp and confident.

This month, we ran a CPR/Narcan/Elopement Drill using one of our enthusiastic residents as a volunteer — safely assisted to the ground on a mat and hidden between two parked cars. Our team located the resident in under 2 minutes and immediately sprang into action with the AED and crash cart.

We prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents above all else, and this drill was a perfect example of how amazing our team is. They’re always ready to jump into action and deliver the highest level of care when it matters most.

Congratulations to our August Resident of the Month, Patrick “Pat” Brewer!

Pat was born on May 28, 1945, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and graduated from Laona High School in 1963. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1965, where he served as a heavy equipment operator and Head Sawyer. After returning home in 1967, Pat married Roxanne in 1968, and together they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Paula and Tricia.

Pat has been a resident of Nu Roc since May 2025. He’s always willing to lend a hand to both staff and fellow residents, and he’s quite the character, constantly making everyone laugh and smile.

We’re proud to recognize Pat for all the joy he brings to our community!
