Happy Birthday, Shellby! πŸŽ‰

Shellby is one of the amazing prep cooks who helps keep our kitchen running, and anyone who has tasted her baking knows just how talented she is. Her care and attention show up in everything she makes, and she is such an important part of our team here at camp.

We also have another reason to celebrate her today. Lion Shellby was recently awarded the Presidential Certificate, the fourth highest award from Lions Clubs International, in recognition of her work collecting and delivering books to treatment centers and shelters across the state of Michigan. That kind of service takes heart, dedication, and a real desire to make a difference.

We are so proud of the Lion and the person Shellby is growing into. Wishing you a birthday filled with the same kindness and joy you bring to everyone around you. πŸ’›πŸ¦

πŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday, Steve Glazier! πŸŽ‰

Today we are celebrating one of Bear Lake Camp’s biggest champions. Steve Glazier serves as a board member for Lions Bear Lake Camp and is the District 11-E1 Camp Chair for Lions of Michigan. In every role he takes on, Steve brings enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine passion for what camp means to the kids and families we serve.

Whether he is helping promote the mission of Bear Lake Camp throughout the district or stepping up to take the plunge during our annual Ice Plunge, Steve leads by example and shows what it truly means to support camp.

Steve, thank you for the energy, commitment, and heart you bring to Lions Bear Lake Camp. We are grateful for all you do and hope you have a fantastic birthday! πŸŽ‚πŸ»πŸ’›

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Paighton Argue! πŸŽ‰

We are proud to share that Paighton Argue has been selected as a recipient of the Grace Lange Memorial Scholarship through the Lions of Michigan.

Paighton first arrived at Lions Bear Lake Camp in 2012 as a seven year old camper. Over the years, this place became part of her story. Campers who grew up beside her watched that same kid return as a counselor in 2023, step into the role of Cabin Leader in 2024, and now serve as a Team Leader helping guide both campers and staff.

Paighton has a way of noticing people. The quiet kid sitting off to the side. The camper who is having a tough moment. The one who just needs someone to stay nearby for a little while. She shows up for those moments without being asked, and those are often the moments that matter most.

The Grace Lange Memorial Scholarship helps legally blind and visually impaired students in Michigan pursue higher education. It is awarded each year based on academic standing and financial need.

We could not be happier for Paighton and everything that lies ahead. Please join us in congratulating her on this well deserved honor. πŸ’›

❄️ So much gratitude after an unforgettable Ice Plunge ❄️

Our hearts are full after another incredible Ice Plunge, and we truly could not have done this without the amazing people who showed up for our camp in such big ways.

A huge thank you to Deerfield Township Fire & Rescue for assisting in the water and on the dock, and to Lapeer County EMS for being onsite and keeping everyone safe. Your presence brings peace of mind and means more than you know.

Thank you to Greater Lapeer Transportation Agency for shuttling guests from the parking area to the lodge. Those rides made a big difference, especially on a cold winter day.

Special appreciation to Dalton Pickett, Michael Pohoda, Shane Little, and Assistant Director Jesse Walling for braving the elements and cutting the hole in the ice. That’s commitment right there.

And to everyone who attended and participated in this year’s event β€” thank you. To every volunteer, jumper, attendee, sponsor, and donor… you showed up, you supported, and you helped make this another successful Ice Plunge for Lions Bear Lake Camp.

It takes a whole community to make something like this happen. We see you. We appreciate you. And we’re so grateful for every single person who helped turn a freezing day into something truly meaningful. πŸ’™
