Around the World of Clubhouse: This Month We're in Michigan, USA

Membership Without Barriers. Recovery Without Limits.

We are excited to share highlights from recent Clubhouse work across Michigan, showing the positive impact of staying true to Clubhouse International Standards and the benefits of the Clubhouse Innovative Prevention (CIP).

- More members are participating regardless of insurance or financial challenges
- Clubhouses are strengthening the Clubhouse Model while expanding access
- Communities are seeing greater connection and pathways to work and education

Pictured here is Rihanna at The Gathering Place Clubhouse. With support from CIP funds, she completed her ServSafe training and is now actively working in the Culinary Unit. This quarter, hundreds of members across Michigan benefited from open, welcoming Clubhouses focused on people and recovery.

When access is open, everyone benefits.

We had a great time at the Clubhouse Christmas Party at the end of the year! We ate at King Buffet (paid for by Clubhouse Fundraising). Then, back at the Clubhouse we played a game where we passed random gift cards around at the direction of our storyteller, John D.

We had such a fun time and are already looking forward to next year!

We'd like to shoutout to Elk Lodge 2567! Our members were able to attend their Thanksgiving feast (here in Lapeer), held on November 27th, for our holiday celebration social! The tradition is almost 30 years strong, serving members of the Lodge and those looking to share the holiday with some company. We enjoyed the traditional fixings of turkey and mashed potatoes provided by the many volunteers at the Lodge!

According to the local newspaper's article on the event, the Elk Lodge provides free meals to veterans throughout November and sponsors toy bins provided at the Home Depot! As a fellow member of the Lapeer Community, we like to recognize those doing their best to fulfill our needs!

Clubhouse International Standards ensure that our members are not alone on the holidays and we thank the Elks Club for being an integral part of our annual Clubhouse tradition! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Last Saturday we had an evening social. We went out to eat and we saw two of our members, Nate and Jesse, in the play: "It's a Wonderful Life." We had such a good time! It went so well that we are all looking to incorporate some more later evening socials into our lineup!

Harmony Hall member Abe J. wanted to contribute something that he's excited about being involved in, as one of Harmony Hall's 30 acts of kindness. He loves quilt making and is involved in charity quilt making that he wanted to count as one of our acts of kindness. Below, is what he wrote explaining about what he does:

"At St. Paul Lutheran Church here in Lapeer. Our quilting group gathers each week from October 1 to October 1 to create Mission Quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Each quilt measure 60 X 80 inches and is carefully stitched to provide warmth, comfort and dignity to people in need.

When our quilting seasons ends we count the quilts and send them to more than 17 different countries. For over 80 years we have helped to provide nearly 28 million. Whether used as bedding, shelter or floor coverings each quilt carries the promise of care and compassion to our neighbors across the globe."
