It's not waiting for the storm to pass, it's learning to dance when washing dishes. Life can be a little unorthodox while in our kitchen, but we make sure the sparkles stay on the tutu (and our smiling faces).

Since I first became disabled my life was in shambles. I've been coming to Harmony Hall off and on over the last 8 to 10 years and I've gained so much knowledge. Coming here makes me a part of a social group where we do things together. As a member of the Clubhouse, I have made excellent progress with my mental illness.

Because of having a mental illness, I have often felt like it's more difficult to gain new skills. Since I came back to Clubhouse, I feel valued which has given me a greater sense of self-worth. I have the purpose that I needed to try something new. They've restored my sense of hope for my own future. It's been a very supportive environment. Harmony Hall is a great place to be.

"I came to Harmony Hall before it was even Harmony Hall. I helped the Clubhouse with the name of Harmony Hall. I did good and they helped me and I did bad and they helped me. Whether I had good times or bad times, I could fall back on them. When I was sick and went to the State hospital, they believed in me. When I came back they welcomed me. All in all, my friends are here at Harmony Hall and that's why I'm still here, over 30 years later."

Our Clubhouse, here at Harmony Hall is working smoothly. Everybody's nice, and kind, and willing to lend you a hand or an ear. You feel relaxed in their presence. It's good vibes here. We got good vibes. I like the new challenges that we face, come what may. We have it together here. The Clubhouse is like a brotherhood and a sisterhood.

"If I didn't go to Clubhouse, I'd be a different person. I wouldn't be able to deal with the problems I have in my life. I come to my Clubhouse because I like to help other people with their problems. I feel like I have this ability in me to help other people with their problems and it helps me to get my mind off myself.

Going to Clubhouse made a big change in my life because I'm around other people. I've become a better person for it and I need to keep coming to Clubhouse as long as I can because I feel like God's been putting me here to help me with my problems. I feel like I need to come here for my physical and mental health. Coming to the Clubhouse and going on social activities gives me something to look forward to.

Harmony Hall will be participating in Clubhouse International - ICCD's Clubhouse Movement Celebration Week! We are dotting the Is and crossing the Ts on our member stories we'll share that show the power of our connections and of the Clubhouse model! In telling our stories of support, we are able to better inform everyone of the community-based therapies and their real impact on those that participate. Included in the Clubhouse model is work-ordered day that encourages skill-building, transitional employment programs to integrate back into the workforce, connections we make while in a supportive environment, and the real impact we have in the communities around us. Clubhouse is a true movement that can ensure real results for those with mental illness!
