it has been absolutely wonderful having Christina back in the office this week!!! ❤️I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I will be out of the office next week, but the administrative office will be open limited hours and days during that time. If you need to reach the office, voice messages that you leave or office text messages sent to the number from which you receive your appointment confirmations will be monitored and addressed during those hours that the administrative office is open. That texting number is not a regular cell phone so it is only monitored when someone is physically present in the office, but it can be more convenient than having to make a phone call or leave a message. If you are a current orthodontic patient and have a problem with your braces that cannot wait till I get back, please call the office and listen to our message for instructions on how to contact me directly.

Thank you to all our patients and families for all your prayers and support for Christina over the past month. I am thrilled to announce that she is doing a little better and was able to return to work today. We have missed her tremendously! Please continue to to keep Christina in your prayers, as this is the beginning of what is likely to be a challenging journey for her. 🙏

To all our patients who had to reschedule because I was sick with the flu 😷, I am sorry for the inconvenience. 😞 I was able to come back to the office today, and and am feeling much better! 💪💪💪💪We are working to get everyone rescheduled. However, my dear front desk person Christina, who has also been out this week is still hospitalized with much more serious problems and could really use your prayers. 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🙏 In the meantime, please be patient if the phone goes to voicemail. My clinical team and I will do our best to get back to you as promptly as possible between or after we see our patients.

Last Sunday, I tremendously enjoyed watching and listening to my very talented former patient, North Branch High School senior John Ehardt, perform in the Detroit Symphony Youth Orchestra at Orchestra Hall in Detroit. (photos posted with permission) Parents and patients often ask me if braces will interfere with band, orchestra, and playing a musical wind instrument. I always tell them that I have treated numerous serious musicians over the years, many who have gone on to make music their profession, and they all learn to adapt and make it work. While it is true that a wind instrument can affect the alignment of your teeth, you CAN achieve a beautiful smile and pursue music. You don’t have to choose one or the other. Plan your orthodontic appointments around your most important musical performances and make sure to wear your retainers faithfully when your treatment is complete.

It’s time to share this again as we are getting closer to Halloween. Reese’s Peanut Butter cups are a very good choice for people with braces. They don’t contain anything sticky like taffy or caramel, and they don’t have nuts or anything else hard that you need to avoid. So if you have braces, go ahead and enjoy some Reese’s!

Happy Halloween!! Trick or Treat! Make good choices about what to eat! Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are more braces-friendly than most candy. Still be careful with the outer chocolate but enjoy!!

It can be confusing when the person who places your fillings offers braces or clear aligners, and patients sometimes think that this means their dentist is also an orthodontist, but this is not the case. In Michigan, becoming an orthodontist requires 2-3 years of additional training after completing dental school as well as completion of a specialty board examination and a specialty license. Dr. Driscoll is an ABO Certified Orthodontist and State of Michigan Licensed Orthodontist.

We love our Angie, and we were sad to lose her to retired life, but she did an amazing job training and preparing Christina to be her successor. And Christina is the perfect choice! She learns at lightening speed and is so at ease taking on all her responsibilities. Now is Chistina’s time to shine! She has done an fantastic job flying solo- It has felt seamless! So this week we give our official welcome to Christina! And we say thank you to Angie for all she did to make this such a smooth transition. 🤗

We had so much fun celebrating Angie’s Retirement today! First in the office and then a night out at the Lake Inn, and it was extra special to have Melinda my original assistant and Tammie my former office manager (and also former assistant) come to join the celebration. It was so much fun to be all together with team members old and new! What a blast to laugh and reminisce about so many memories shared over so
many years! We love you Angie! And we will all miss you!!!
