Turf Tip Tuesday: Let’s talk GREEN! Everyone wants the greenest lawn on the street, right? The best way to achieve this is by using a customized fertilizing treatment on your grass. Many “box store” programs actually contain more salt than your soil needs, which will do more harm than good by depleting soil nutrition even further. Give us a call and we can help create a custom program for your turf! 435-790-8407 💚

Let’s talk about tree fertilization 🌳 Trees are an expensive part of landscaping and it is important to treat them. Trees have a vascular system that moves nutrients from root to canopy. Systemic fertilization in the spring will help when there are late freezes, strong winds, hail damage or other stress factors to the tree. This keeps the tree from not using all of its natural nutrient reserves. Systemic treatment can be done until early June. Call Derek to get on the schedule 435-790-8407

Turf Tip Tuesday: The first spring mowing should be short. In fact, it should be very, VERY short! Take a few minutes and sharpen the blade on your mower to give your lawn less of a “beat up” appearance. Be sure to pick up the clippings of this short mowing and any other organic matter, such as leaves, to give your soil the best chance of absorbing the spring fertilizer application. 💚

Turf Tip Tuesday: It may be too early to turn on your sprinkler systems, but it is not too early to begin watering your grass. It may seem like a lot of work to drag hoses and set sprinklers but your grass will thank you, especially after a pretty dry winter. Coming out of winter is actually a stress to your turf. It is easy for it to enter a state of “shock” due to drought/dry soil. Turf that is in “shock” actually promotes w**d growth. So add a bit of moisture to help your turf “wake up from hibernation.” 💚

Turf Tip Tuesday: Spring is a great time to aerate your lawn! Aerating reduces soil compaction, increases root spread, and allows new nutrients to pe*****te the ground more easily. While aerating, you may be inclined to pick up the dirt plugs because they are, well, ugly! DON’T PICK THEM UP! They contain vital microbes that will help bind to the nutrients, encouraging greener and healthier turf 💚

Derek has been attending a seminar in South Dakota for the last few years. This year I was able to tag along. They covered lots and lots of new information that we are excited to share with you! We decided a great way to educate our clients as much as possible was to offer “Turf Tip Tuesday” each week to help you keep your yard looking better than ever 💚
