Have you ever been frustrated by slow progress in therapy? Have you ever felt like just when you got to an important place in a session, you were out of time? Therapy intensives may be right for you.
What are therapy intensives? They are kind of what they sound like. More intense therapy sessions. Therapy intensives are longer sessions, often 3-4 hour long sessions. They are also done closer together. In doing 3-4 hour sessions two or three days in a row, it allows you to focus on a specific issue and not get side tracked by other things.
Therapy intensives are good if you have a specific issue you want to work on, like a specific trauma. Therapy intensives are good if you already have a therapist you see weekly, but you you haven't been able to get where you want on one specific issues or area of life. Therapy intensives are good if you have a schedule that doens't allow you to attend weekly therapy. Therapy intensives are good if you have an important upcoming event that you want to be healed for. For example, you have a serious fear of flying and have a big trip coming up.
How are therapy intensives paid for? Therapy intensives are not covered by insurance as insurance only pays for 45-60 minutes of therapy at a time. Because of this, therapy intensives are paid for out of pocket. You can, however, use your HSA account for this if you have one.
Here at Hoback Counseling, we are proud to announce that we are now offering IFS informed EMDR therapy intensives. These will be three hour sessions, two to three days in a row. Please reach out for a free consultation if you feel that a therapy intensive might be right for you.
