Stronger Every Day!

The La Porte County Family YMCA Employee Wellness Challenge is off to an amazing start in 2026! Employees from every branch are taking part in monthly, fun-themed challenges designed to get everyone moving.

From dog walks and group fitness classes to outdoor runs, basketball, pickleball, and even shoveling—our staff are finding creative ways to stay active and reach at least 360 minutes of movement each month. Those who hit the goal are entered into a raffle for some incredible prizes from local businesses!

In just the first two months of the year, YMCA employees have logged an incredible 8,934 hours of movement—and they’re keeping the momentum going with March Movement Madness!

This session kicked off our three-part wellness series in partnership with Northwest Health, designed to bring valuable health education to our community. Attendees learned about staying strong and balanced as we age, pelvic floor support, and how to advocate for themselves at the doctor—all while enjoying light refreshments and a helpful Q&A.

La Porte County ranks 4th out of 92 counties in the state for the most drownings, placing it among the worst in Indiana. With proper swim lessons, kids gain confidence, safety skills, and a lifelong love for the water.
