Inservice Director and Infection Control Coordinator, Michelle Barnhart, attended the Indiana Department of Health's World TB Day Summit this week, alongside Ashlynn Householder, RN. This gathering focuses on providing education and awareness about preventing the spread of Tuberculosis.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our Annual Easter Egg Hunt this afternoon! Due to possible rain, this event will look a bit different this year as residents will be prepared to give out some hoppy handouts indoors!

Congratulations to our March Employee of the Month, Madison Laux! Madison is our Activity Director and does a great job of bringing exciting new ideas to the monthly calendar. Residents adore her personable attitude and high energy.

Rehab graduate, Polly Warfel, is going home! Having lived right next door to Miller's for years, Polly knew that after a fall, she wanted to undergo rehabilitation with us. When she first arrived, she was unable to care for herself, transfer, or walk. Now, after just 4 weeks, Polly is able to do all of these things without a need for any mobility aids! Way to go, Polly.

Polly recommends Miller's for anyone who needs inpatient or outpatient therapy, sharing that the staff is incredibly gracious and everyone always has a smile on their face. When asked about her experience, Polly said, "The food is good, the aides are the best, and the therapy is a 12.5/10! Everything was wonderful." She wanted to share that while everyone was great, some of the staff stole her heart from the very beginning with their sweetness including her Nurse, Marliza, and her Nurses Aides, Anna, Jackie, and Annabelle.

Congratulations, Polly! We look forward to hearing about your progress when you return for outpatient therapy.

Residents at Miller's love to learn! That is why we always have so much fun during our Discovery Den activities! During our self-inflating balloon experiment, we learned that by mixing baking soda and vinegar, we can create a gas with enough pressure to inflate an entire balloon.

Discovery Den keeps our minds active and allows curiosity and creativity to grow in all of us.

A foundational aspect of patient care at Miller's are the Care Plan meetings. These meetings are conducted periodically during a patient or resident's time in our care. A Care Plan meeting involves a patient, patient representative/family member, and their entire care team including Social Services, Therapy, Nursing, Dietary, and the Unit Manager. These meetings keep residents and families connected, informed, and involved in their care. They serve as a safe space to discuss goals, concerns, and changes that may occur throughout a specific person's journey. Miller's prioritizes person-centered care and Care Plan meetings play a key role in ensuring everyone gets the personalized care that they need.

Today is World Social Work Day and we are celebrating the impact our amazing Social Services team makes every day. Paula Nieman, Social Services Director, and Lynda Cannon, Social Services Designee, make the perfect patient advocacy duo.

They provide support for patients, residents, and families throughout their time at Miller's. Our Social Services Department does so much for us including resolving patient/family concerns, acquiring resources, care planning, discharge planning, and more! Their compassion and dedication makes a difference in the lives of many and we are so grateful for them.

Thank you, Paula and Lynda, for going above and beyond and being the incredible social workers that you are! Happy World Social Work Day!

We got tired of the snow and brought the beach to us. Residents enjoyed relaxing with a snack and bringing out their competitive sides with a sandcastle competition!
