Researchers at Western Health Sciences are conducting a survey study focused on the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in pediatric speech-language pathology. Our study, Identifying Gaps in AAC Services for Children: Perspectives from Speech-Language Pathologists, aims to:
Explore AAC education and training during SLP/SLT graduate programs
Identify barriers to AAC service provision amongst general practitioners (e.g., those with varied populations in treatment centres, school boards, private practice, hospitals) and those working in specialized AAC clinics.
Understand what supports could increase SLPsβ/SLTsβ confidence in using AAC
Compare experiences between Canadian and international SLPs/SLTs
To ensure we have a representative sample of SLPs/SLTs, we would be grateful if you could share the survey link with your SLP/SLT members (https://redcap.link/AAC_SLP_Survey_UWO). I have also attached a short blurb and the study flyer, which you are welcome to include in your email, newsletter, or other communication with your membership. The survey is open to all SLPs/SLTs working with children and youth and is estimated to take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
The Principal Investigator for this study is Dr. BJ Cunningham, PhD, SLP(C) Reg. CASLPO, School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Western University, Email: bj.cunningham@uwo.ca.
