Dr. Diana Del Angel Ramos’s journey began in a small town in Veracruz, Mexico. Growing up in a community with many needs, she discovered early on a calling to serve others. While still in high school, she volunteered at a local clinic during her free time, not knowing this experience would set the foundation for her career in medicine. She went on to become the first college graduate and the first physician in her family.
Dr. Del Angel earned her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas and was later selected for observerships at prestigious hospitals and institutions in Houston, Texas. Recognizing the growing need for preventive medicine and dedicated primary care physicians in the United States, she decided to pursue residency training in Family Medicine.
During her residency at TIGMER Family Medicine Residency in Laredo, Texas, Dr. Del Angel distinguished herself through her compassion, clinical skills, and leadership. She was appointed Chief Resident and received multiple honors, including the Rising Leader Award, the Resident Teacher Award, and the William Osler Award for her exemplary bedside manner and commitment to strengthening the physician–patient relationship.
Drawn to Laredo by its people, culture, and the community’s need for high-quality care, Dr. Del Angel chose to remain in the city after residency. She joined Summit Medical and Obesity Associates, where she provides comprehensive care with a special focus on prevention, chronic disease management, and patient education. In addition to her clinical practice, she is passionate about mentoring future physicians, promoting wellness, and empowering patients to take an active role in their health.
Dr. Del Angel expresses her deepest gratitude to her husband, Taylor Morgan, and her beloved dogs, Sparty and Bella, for their constant love and support. Above all, she thanks the Laredo community for welcoming her and inspiring her to continue her mission of delivering compassionate, high-quality care.
